    Cooking with duck eggs?

I eat them just like chicken eggs. They are not that different from a regular egg to me. Don't be afraid to try them.

Do you grind or mill whole corn for feed?

Thanks. Deer corn goes on sale around here during hunting season and growing season is not far away. I think a grinder will pay for itself in no time.

Do you grind or mill whole corn for feed?

I was thinking about buying whole rather than chopped corn to save a few bucks. Deer corn is about $3 cheaper around here. What kind of grinder or mill would you suggest?

Has anyone used Duckweed as a feed supplement?

Good to know. We have a pond in the back yard that's fully covered in duckweed. I may offer the chickens some to see how they like it. They eat kudzu and maggots so they should go for the duckweed too. We may have a never ending supply of food for them if they like it.

will chickens drink from a hanging water bottle?

Yes, they will absolutely drink from water bottles. I have two tractors - one with two bantams and one with five. If you are going to have several chickens get the larger bottles. They have to be refilled daily in my situation so the larger the bottle the better.

    300 Pound Feeder

I like it! Just what I want to build. I have a 5 gallon bucket feeder but I like the idea of being able to dump the entire bag all at once. How long does it last before you have to refill? How many birds? Hope you don't mind me stealing your design.

    Very bad hatching rate!

Well, I certainly understand your situation. Same here. Homemade cooler incubator with the same kind of hatch rate. I suspected a humidity issue with mine. I am going to calibrate before I try again. I think we'll figure it out with more practice.

My sebright is missing. :( ***UPDATE: She's back and safe!***

Check any nearby trees. I had a golden seabright that just wanted to get up high off the ground. Found him in the rafters of the barn. Don't panic. You'll find her.

Any way to catch or kill a hawk....suggestions

We have several hawks here. I saw one a few minutes ago in the back yard. I watched him through the binoculars for a short time and realized how beautiful these birds are. He was sitting in a tree on a small limb. The wind blew the limb and the hawk up and down and back and forth but his...

Duck Poop Holds In Pond Water???? WHAT????

We have two old chicken house lagoons that were constructed on some very sandy soil. They hold water very well. They were constructed about 35 years ago behind an egg laying farm. The three chicken houses were "cleaned out" twice a week using lagoon water that was pumped through the "pits" in...
