    We let them out for most of the day when we are home and every evening. However, they aren't full time free rangers. And just an update after I sent my last message I went to check the boxes and both of the girls used them!!! Thanks goodness!

    Good morning everyone! I caught Wilma(Our Buff) in the act of laying her second egg. Thank goodness she uses the nesting boxes. Betty(Our Barred Rock) still won't use them and she has been laying for a month. Any suggestions?

    Here is another video of Betty. As you can tell she's doing a lot better today. She also laid a normal sized egg yesterday afternoon. Thank you everyone for the advice and concerns.

    I did have a question in regards to her egg size. Will hens lay a smaller egg after an injury? The one she laid yesterday resemble her first egg in size comparison.

    Betty had a really good day today! She came out off the coop and played in the yard for a bit. She also laid her first egg since Sunday!

    Thanks for all the help thus far! I did check her leg yesterday and didn't really feel anything out of the ordinary. We continue to monitor her and check for changes periodically. As for the panting, it's probably two fold. Number 1 she does seem to be in pain unfortunately and number 2 we live...

    Also, when she clucks there is a muffled sound that seems to be coming from her vent. Could this also just be from the infection from bumble foot?

    Hello All, My wife and I were on a weekend get away and when we returned one of our hens was acting strange. She is favoring one foot really bad . Three black spots appeared on her leg. Any help on IDing this would be greatly appreciated.
