I think I know where my moths came from. When I added bran a couple of weeks ago is when I started seeing moths. Thought it was just a coincidence, but I bought extra and found them in the sealed container. Could there have been eggs in it? If so that is nasty!
Yes, I didn't know these existed either! I will be making a trip to get some tomorrow. I then think I am going to try moving them into the laundry room to see if I can get more activity going. I put new bran in the about a week ago.
My hubby was sitting on the top of the ladder as we were building the top of the run and our EE flew up into his lap. A few minutes later he came down off the ladder and she flew up there again only this time a hawk was circling over. Made us very determined to get it done quickly to keep her in...
We have finished our coop for the most part. Still have a few minor touches and need to clean up. We bought a Rubbermaid shed and used an old dog kennel, used the poles from an old trampoline to make the roof to the run. My husband didn't want to put any holes in the shed just in case we decide...

I am going to try to cover the tank to block some of the light and try the wet sponge. My husband is not happy about me bringing them inside. Maybe if this doesn't help I can talk him into putting them into the laundry room.
I can't seem to keep enough moisture. I put potatoes and carrots in and they are dried out within a day. They are in a 10 gallon fish tank on our back porch. No direct sunlight.
I was wearing the same flip flops that I always wear with jean shorts and shirt. They were all coming at me. I threw down some bird food and they still would not leave me alone. My boys said that they have been doing the same to them when they go to check the nest boxes and give them fresh water...
We are first time chicken owners. We have 5 total, 3 are 22 weeks and 2 are 20 weeks. Two of the 22 week olds (BO & EE) started laying about 2 weeks ago. One of the 20 week olds (Black sex link) started laying a few days ago. All was good until yesterday when I went to collect eggs and throw...
Thanks, Faraday40.
She had been acting crazy the last few day with being aggressive and pecking. She even jumped up several time to peck at our hands. Not like her at all. Then today she was really sweet and loving but loud and singing. I was thinking we would see an egg tomorrow or something...
Just saw all of the girls gathered around the nesting box. Went to check on them and our BO Blondie just layed her first egg. Small but otherwise perfect. She had been acting funny the last few days and started singing this morning really loud.
I just came back in the house after sitting with the chickens for about an hour. Our BO was being so friendly, singing and squatting. Could her attitude the last few days be because she is getting ready to lay?
We have one BO that was always the most friendliest of all. She is 21 weeks old and not laying yet. She has started pecking at one of the other chickens and will jump up and peck your fingers. Don't know why she is doing this all of the sudden.
