I've never done the float test myself. Only read about it.
Dcat- Why do you think the one is no good? Is it just bc it hasn't been wiggling like the rest? None of mine rocked or wiggled at all until they had pipped. So if that's your reason don't count it out yet! :)
I have two that are not doing anything. After the last pipped egg hatched lastnight I opened up the incubator and candled those two quickly and gently. I still see the air cell which looks good and darkness... don't see veining , but I didn't on most before. I also didn't see any internal pips...
These babies are from a Cream Legbar Roo and the mamas were Cream Legbars and Arcaunas. Will they all carry the autosexing trait or only the ones that ended up being from the Cream Legbar hens?
These are 5 of 11 that have hatched thus far. Hoping for a few more.
The black one at the top has...
I have a question. Our chicks were fathered by a Cream Legbar and the mamas were a mix of Cream Legbars and Arcaunas. Will they all have the autosexing trait being theyre all at least half Cream Legbar?
We have 11 chicks now. 4 more are currently pipped. I am fairly sure one of those has passed...
Oh no! Maybe gently pulling it up with tweezers? Is it under the grated part? It's hard for me to see in the pic.
We have 8 babies this morning and 6 others currently pipped. Today is technically "hatching day." Two of the pipped eggs have just a bit of shell broken off and haven't picked...
I wasn't tracking humidity. I was just following the incubator directions- keeping the outside trough filled day 1-18 and then both the center and outside filled on the evening of day 18 before lockdown.
Maybe it is dried blood. The other eggs whose membranes I can see do not look like that so...
I have 5 peeping now. One has broken through a good amount and we can see the top of it's head and its beak through the torn membrane. Another has a little piece of shell off and a hole through the membrane. Two others just have chipped shells and the 5th has broken a piece of shell off, but the...
Day 20 here. My daughter and I heard one internal peep yesterday. It was so faint we weren't sure if we really heard it or if our minds were playing tricks on us. This morning everything looked the same... then I peeped at the eggies and the immediately got a reaction of an external pip! One...
Here is a great post with candling pics if you haven't looked through it before.

I am incubating eggs for the first time so I don' have a lot of experience, but my eggs definitely looked different than that. At day 4 there was a spot and veining. At day eight there was more veining, a larger mass with a dark spot (eye) and they were moving. At day 14 and since I have been...
I didn't notice movement, but I don't have the best flashlight for candling either. I could see healthy looking air cells and the rest of the eggs were really dark. On day 8 they were bouncing about like crazy though.
Hello all! I am joining in kind of late. I set 24 eggs on 4/3 and am on day 16. Daddy was a Cream Legbar and the hens were Cream Legbars and Aracaunas. This is our first time incubating and will be (if all goes as planned) our first time having chickies period. I candled the eggs at day 4 and...
