Honeydoll? It'll all be better when a video of it all ends up on youtube!
hahahahahahahahaha
I could so see that happening to me. thanks for sharing, I needed the giggle!
I've been putting my hens outside from most of the day until today. Its unbelievably cold with a wicked wind. The windchill must be below zero I'm guessing and temp was 14F last I checked. They luck out and get to stay snuggled in the coup until this weather eases up some...
I feel you pain. I'm experiencing the same problem, fairly severe, but not quite as bad as your situation.
I read on another thread that in this cold cold weather the egg layers might be needing more protein. I'm going to add tuna or hamburger to their diet today actually and pray that this...
I didn't read the whole thread, so apologies if this was already mentioned.
I have mine covered in chicken wire (which is sagging....I need to work on it when the weather is reasonable again)
I've had a redtailed hawk on top of the chicken wire trying to break in.
I read the forums here...
My Bullmastiff is very safe with the chickens. She comes in the coop while I clean it up. the chickens peck her toenails which is very cute.
I will say that I started desensitizing the bullmastiff when the chicks were peeps. My dog came to me from the humane society with an unknown background...
I have a bullmastiff with unknown background-dog pound pooch. I didn't want to stress about her and the chickens, and so I've spend a heap of time working with her and chickens from when they were peeps.
I still would never leave her unattended with the chicks or peeps....or chickens. I do let...
Mine is something similiar to that?!
It's plastic. And a yard Shed. It has one window which my husband replaced with hardware cloth. And he also build a solid lockable wooden window Cover that is proped open during summer. The sunroof is plastic and solid. It gives the coop a lot of natural...
We got our first 2 eggs today!!!! One was a big Egg and the other much more petite.
It was so funny....just yesterday my Daughter and I were researching and researching here on the forums, thinking Very Red Combed Georgette might be a George!
Nope, she was ready to lay eggs!
Though there...
What a fright!
My chicks are 5 days old and *big wings* was proud of herself it seemed as she flew from my one arm to the other last night! I was shocked like you!
Her wings are noticably longer than the other two chicks. She was proud! haha You could just see her smiling at self. =P
I don't have a ton of help being new to Chickens, but here's what I found out.
I saw in person the eggs from Golden Sex Link hens. Wonderfully large brown eggs. And they lay a lot of them.
The Golden sex links are great because you can sex them via color. that way I was able to get 3 pullets...
We have one who keeps sleeping face forward in the shavings. She seems to sit, and then looks warm and relaxed as her little face falls forward fast asleep. The pop! She wakes again.
We've only had her a few days...I thought she was sick. She just seems to take a lot of cat naps face first.
