    Best Black Spanish Turkey Breeders

After having turkey for a few years now, I've decided to go with a pure breeding flock and want to use Black Spanish Turkey. I don't want hatching eggs. Any recommendations for a breeder or hatchery to get a good foundation stock?

    sexing turkey poults

They both hang out with my older tom.. They only chirp. They come onto the porch when I walk outside.. No displaying. I'm suspecting males too but they behave so calm.

I have three Swedish Black hen eggs in the incubator.. But the lady I got them from says that they're a hard hatch and even tho she normally has high hatch rates, this breed she has trouble with late quitters or death after pip. Any tips???

White covers expression of color bases and patterns and can be either dominant or recessive. There are no sexlinked attributes of that cross. I will be experimenting with silver/gold sexlinks in the near future.. Silver is dominant to gold and the trait is also located on the Z sex gene.. So if...

For black sexlinks yes, but the barred parent has to be female. Here's the way it works.. Barring is located on the Z gene which is also the sex gene and is dominant to base color so only one copy is needed to produce a barred bird. In chickens, a male is Z/Z and a female is Z/0.. When bred...

What is an AM? As long as the father does not have a gene for barring/cuckoo then all male chicks will hatch with a white spot on the tops of their heads. As long as the chicks surrounding down color is dark enough (not white or light yellow) then they can be identified. The white underbelly...

What color is my Muscovy Drake

He is 2 1/2 to 3 months old.. I was told lavender, but I don't know what that's considered... I have 3 black Pied hens and 3 blue hens and got him for breeding. Is that considered a silver type gene? All the silvers I see look metallic cream

Not sure how soon befoyegg collection you separated the female, but chickens have a specialized sperm pouch and can store viable sperm for several weeks. You should wait at least 3 weeks before incubating eggs after removing a rooster.. I wait a full calendar month. As far as the chicks you've...

    My Experimental/Mad Scientist Breed Project

I have a few Shamo, almost got some asil.. Didn't like the look of the stock I had access to at the time. I'm hopeful in a few years I'll be in the position financially to get a few really nice lines of the harder to come by breeds. I just finished nursing school last month so instead of...

    My Experimental/Mad Scientist Breed Project

Beautiful! I especially like the fact that they retain follicles for feather development even on an otherwise bare head.. It's just so hard to find them in the US!

    My Experimental/Mad Scientist Breed Project

That's part of the reason that I included the Russian Orloff. To get a meatier bird.. I have two Dark Cornish and two white laced red Cornish pullets.. I culled all my males when they started developing the wrong earlobe color(so I abandoned them, couldn't find large Fowl good stock)

I only got silkies to be broodies.. The black one is just over 1 1/2 and the two babies I got with her were a part of the 5th clutch shed hatched.. The splash I got from the same breeder, she's about 9 months old and no eggs yet(not expecting any till spring).. The white male is about 5 months...

This is the SOP for combs § Comb: Male - Walnut - set firmly and evenly on head, almost circular in shape, preferably broader than longer, with a number of small prominences over it, a slight indentation or furrow, transversely across the middle, rising at a point just forward of the nostrils...
