    Mystery injury on silkie

I will try to get a picture, I have another chicken now that's also sick, not sure if it's related. She's listless, hardly moving, and had lots of poop stuck to her butt. I've cleaned her up and she's sleeping in my lap. Really worried about these too

    Mystery injury on silkie

I picked up my silkie chicken and noticed that she had a lump on her leg. I'm not sure how to explain it, but it's raised and had a really thick black scab. I washed the area and the scab loosened and actually came off The area that's left in about the size of a golf ball, raised, and red. (And...

    Sick hen?

She's eating drinking and her poops look like normal chicken poops. Breathing seems fine and so does her belly. I gave the coop a really good cleaning just in case. Her comb is looking a lot better! So I'm hoping that it's just poor ventilation in the coop and I just need to add in some Windows.

    Sick hen?

My oldest chicken Omelette (3) seems to have something going on with her. Her comb is turning purplish and her face seems slightly swollen (I could be paranoid). she's also molting right now. I have 7 other chickens and they roam the back yard. Any advice would help.

@chickendreams24 Ill look into that! She normally doesn't have that bent of a neck, I think it's just the pics, but it doesn't hurt to do research!

    silkie sexing

One more update on Torchic the silkie! I'm like 95% positive that she is a lady now! Just four weeks ago she looked like a cockerel and even some of the people on here agreed! Just goes to show that you shouldn't rush to get rid of potential cockerels! There is still hope that they could be...

    Sexing a silkie??????

Here is a comb picture (I used water to push back the crest a bit) the silkie has a lot of new pin feather around it's head. It's still probably too young to tell but I want to post some progression to see if that will shed some light on it's gender

    Sexing a silkie??????

I bought one silkie chick along with two other chickens exactly 8 weeks ago. Since the silkies were straight run I'm trying to see if anyone can take an educated guess at her gender. She (?) was picked out through wing sexing (or at least my attempt at it) as well as choosing the smallest and...

    chickens keep leaving my backyard

2 of my 4 chickens are constantly flying over our 4 foot high chain link fence and going into the neighbors yards as well as the alley behind our backyard. I do not want them to do so because I don't want angry neighbors and I want them to stay safe, but I don't know how to keep them in. I have...
