Looks like peritonitis. Lash eggs are the rubbery things. Some say peritonitis is deadly, but my hens survived without antibiotics. Although that is the safest route.
Hello again. They are being given ivermectin for legs and head lice. As well as an antibiotic for humans for respiratory infection mycoplpasmpa called Doxycycline hyclat. They will be good soon. The vet said my hens should be good as long as stress is kept to a minimum. Yay! Thank you all for...
Hello!! Seeing the vet today. I did a feces egg float exam and these girls are free of internal parasites. They do however have scaly leg mites but I am treating them and its grtting better. None of them have bubbly watery eyes anymore!!! And only one seems to really have a bad respiratory...
Thank you so much for the help. I will be seeing my vet thursday and will keep you all posted. What you explained makes sense. I really appreciate the support @Wyorp Rock. So far their symptoms are getting better!!! It's only been two days. I still do worry for my flock... but I have a very good...
Thank you so much @Wyorp Rock
I have contacted my vet. I do not understand the carrier thing. What is the point of quarantine if the chickens are symptomless carriers...your hens would still get ill. Would these infections kill my birds? These new birds are older and it seems they have been...
Hello,
I have a flock of 8 with a very young and active rooster. He really is too much for my girls, so I decided to rescue again since I have done that successfully once before. The ones I rescued (4) are terribly ill. They are eating and drinking but are sneezing, coughing, have watery bubbly...
I am doing an assembly on factory farming next year for my school. I had an idea to bring in one of my girls to show them exactly what- i mean who they are eating. Would it be unhealthy for my girl? she loves people so that wouldn't be an issue, would it be bad for her health to go somewhere?
My girls are all cuddly, except for my amercauna. My orpington waits for me to sit down, and when i do she hops on me and gets cozy. She's the boss in the flock and she's real mean to the other girls, whenever they come for cuddles she pecks them in the face!!! and i feel like a bad influence...
I plan to get my chicks in March, then in June have them in a separate coop and run. Then while the old ones free range or hang out in their own they can meet and greet. That way they won't fight as much cause it won't be a shock when they do join coops.
Thanks everyone! So helpful!! I'll make more ventilation holes!! Their run is already covered soo it's fine. Their water needs to be put outside and heated. And for the day old chicks ! Awesome. Getting some in about a year or two!!! First time getting a new batch. Thanks again! Have a great day...
Hi everyone, it's winter here in Montreal and its VERY cold, -25 it gets to. Most of my girls have frostbite, I tried everything and I can't seem to stop it. Is it really bad for them?? The ventilation in the coop is good, they have a heater that heats it to probably 17-20 degrees, and they have...
One of my girls was on the deck alone, I was a few meters away with the other girls. she was busy eating seeds and didn't see the cat sitting right by her side. as soon as she looked up she screamed soooo loud and flew off the deck all the way to where we were! it was so funny. (Our cat would...
When my girls slow down on their laying we plan on getting more chickens/ we are depending on a broody hen that will hatch our next batch lol. What if none of them become broody?? My buff orpington built a very perfect nest and sat on it for a while, the other girls tend to it and sit on it as...
