Thanks everyone!
I thought I had replied to this but I guess I didn't. I slaughtered the chickens that day and dressed her. As it was my first time I did it, it tool a long time.
Hi everyone,
It has come time that I have to cull one of our meat chickens due to a bad leg. She started showing issues at around 3 weeks but was very minor, yesterday was a bad day but she could still move around after a minute but today she is all but prone, hardly able to get up and when she...
I have limited experience with any eggs let alone brown eggs (have 2 brown egg layers) and can say that they shades of brown can be different. I've even had lighter shades on the same egg. Asked here and was told it is fine. Ate the eggs and I'm still around :)
Hello all,
Tomorrow I am going to pick up my first meat birds (ever) from the Co-Op country store in town. They weren't sure on the breed of them when I asked they said "Meat Kings" but I am assuming they are CornishX as they are the most common meat birds and any specific breeds you order...
Hey,
I got my first brown egg today to go along with the monstrous white one one of my beautiful ladies decided to give me. When I first saw it it appeared to be rich brown but when I picked it up it started turning white now there is white dots all through it. I was reading that sometimes...

Yes, that is what I mean. I'm pretty sure that (s)he isn't the biggest of the chickens either. I'll get a picture of all of them tomorrow to compare if you think that would be beneficial?
Thank you guys very much. I can only keep hens here out of courtesy for our neighbors. If it had been a male we would have been having some chicken for dinner which isn't a bad thing but these ones were in the hopes of eggs. Thanks again!
Hi again,
It has been some time since I posted here but now that my chickens are older there is one that is different than the others and I'm concerned it might be a rooster. It might be that she is just more mature then the others as the only difference I notice is a redder comb and the ones...
Excellent! I wanted and named the red ones so it will be fun for me if they lay first.
Thanks for the comment on the dog. She is a sweetheart. I have three, one only seemed to realize we had chickens outside today when he walked by (to be fair he is on medications that sort of make him space...
