Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

I sent the breeder a long detailed email explaining all what went on with the chickens . Maybe they mixed their own feed and had the ratios re calcium and protein etc. I had a reply and fortunately it was taken in the spirit it was meant . Because they were into chickens in a big way they...

Thanks Birdman55 - any new methods to counteract lice and mites are welcome . I have a Minorca cockerel with a big problem which I have not come across before . He sits back on his haunches with his feet straight up in the air . He also has a problem walking - he has grown very large and quickly...

I use a mixture of 2 cups water, 1 cup cooking oil with a tablespoon of dishwashing liquid in a spray bottle for lice in their coops . It seems to work ok if you spray regularly . My 2 Araucana bantams (with scissor beaks) came with leg mites which were very hard to cure until I used invermectin...

Hi K Spot . I had an autopsy done on my wonderful Silver Grey Dorking cockerel when he was culled . My Naked Neck is 11 weeks old . Recently my cat was bitten by a snake and survived (the local vet has now paid off their mortgage and I now own a million dollar cat) . However luckily I have never seen any evidence of snakes or foxes near my 6 coops .

Feeding & Watering chickens with "scissor beaks"

Hi - I am new to raising chickens and I rescued 2 black Araucana bantams with severe scissor beaks . At first they frantically jumped all over me and the food bowls I was giving them because the lady who had them did not realise they were unable to pick seed up from the ground very well and that...
