Just in case this feed is still running, I've finally got an egg from our aracauna 'Pixie'. She had laid for 2 weeks now on and off and they are great eggs. The other eggs are from my black leghorn and our wheaten maran.

Still haven't had any eggs from our aracauna yet. She is still squatting and seems to be pacing around the run at times. Also, just wondering how your comb looks on your girl. Our Pixie's comb isn't very red. More pink and it's not very large.

thanks so much. The roost bar is higher except where the divider is between the nesting box. Their combs are red, although I know they need to get settled. Thanks again for the info.:)

Hi all. Just wondering whether I will scare my 24 week pekin bantams by bringing them out into the backyard and having the kids their too? They have only just been home for 3 days and they haven't started laying yet. Will I scare them off laying? Look forward to your advice.

Thanks Teila. I'm eagerly awaiting the first egg. How long should you leave them to adjust to the coop before letting them free range in the garden? I was told to leave them for 3 days for them to adjust and find food and water. Is this right? How do you know when they are ready to lay?
