I have 4 speckled sussex and 1 blue cochin. They will be 4 weeks on Sunday. 2 are mostly feathered and other 3 are about halfway there. In Florida now, the temps are 90/80 during the day and 65/58 at night. Is this too cold at night for them to go outside w/out heat lamp?
I have a 4' tall A-frame chicken tractor that I wanted to make a PVC feeder for. There are 5 chickens. Is it possible to make a PVC feeder for a tractor? What configurations would I use? I read about using 4" PVC pipe and 45 degree elbow but when I put these together it seems not angeled enough...
Thanks everyone! I think watch them in the next few weeks to see if I see changes in the feathers and I'll check out the vent sexing thread. I guess you shouldn't count your roos until they crow huh? (Like not counting your chickens before they hatch) LOL!
That's what I was afraid of. I have 10 chicks and there are only 2 or 3 that I feel pretty certain are females. I'll post pics of those too...just to get a 2nd opinion.

Thank you so much for posting this!! I don't see many posts like this! I just hatched coturnix quail eggs mainly for keeping them as pets (for a few eggs too). I have 10 3 day old chicks. I want to keep 2 hens. Between my daughter and I handling them since they hatched...they are very...
1 of my 2 day old coturnix quail chicks now has a partially open dry eye. I tried wetting it with a bit of water but it didn't help. Is there an ointment I could put over it to help rewet it but not dry it out? Anything I can do to help him...he is one of my favorites
I had 2 coturnix quails hatch tonight! This was my first hatch ever too. It's funny, when I heard the peeping, I thought it was a bird outside, lol! Then I looked in the bator and there was a little chick! 4 more have pips. Can't wait to see in the am if anymore hatch.
They're hatching! And I have 2 coturnix quail chicks!!! They are tiny and sooooooo cute! This was my first ever hatch. I have 35 eggs total. And I'm using a forced air Little Giant incubator. 2 more have pips (tiny hole) but not hatching yet.
My questions: my humidity is 62% and dropping. I...
Ok, thanks! Oh and this is for coturnix quail eggs w/ expected hatch date of 16-18 days.
It just seemed like alot of wet stuff in there to get the humidity that high. I'm adding water to it 2-3 times a day. What will I do when I start to get pips when the humidity goes below 60%...nothing I...
