    Meat Chicks Crops Are Swelling

We haven't been giving them grit because we were told not to yet. We have now put some in with them. Hopefully that will solve the problem.

    Meat Chicks Crops Are Swelling

Some of them look like they're seriously going to pop. They've been with us a week, so I find it kind of weird that they would just now start looking like this, since they've been eating none stop since we got them. We started taking their feed away at night two nights ago because one chicks...

    Meat Chicks Crops Are Swelling

Hi all- We have some week old meat chicks (Cornish Cross) and we have just noticed that quite a few of them have what we assume are bulging crops. We give them unmedicated chick feed, and water. What in the world is going on? Should we start them on grit already?? We didn't start our egg...

New Hatchling Still Has Yolk Sac Hanging Out

No, she hatched in the middle of the night. She was born 1 1/2 days ago, and she's still in the bator because I thought that would help dry it out. I'll get her out in a bit to check on it. Thanks for all the advice! This newbie appreciates it!

New Hatchling Still Has Yolk Sac Hanging Out

Oh I pray that doesn't happen. Sorry the pics aren't the best. She wasn't too happy to be held down. And I've wiped the poop from her vent area. :)

New Hatchling Still Has Yolk Sac Hanging Out

I'll try to get pics in a bit. OK, so its not the yolk sac, but what you said, the waste sac. Its coming from the opening below the vent. It's super hard, and brown. The other chicks aren't showing any interest in it,so that's good.

New Hatchling Still Has Yolk Sac Hanging Out

Anybody?? I'm afraid infection might set in at the opening, or another chick might pull out the rest of the yolk sac. Help this newbie out, please. :)

New Hatchling Still Has Yolk Sac Hanging Out

So one of our chicks that hatched this morning is still walking around the incubator with the yolk sac still hanging out. It has started to harden for the most part, but is still very much attached to the inside. I have NO CLUE what to do. It's been on there for almost 12 hours now. On a...

    Air Cell on Wrong End

Hi All- This is our first time hatching chicken eggs in an incubator. Today is day 18, and lockdown is happening tonight. I was just candling a few eggs because I was curious about their positions, and I realized that one of our bigger eggs, that's kind of shaped the same on top and bottom...
