I have somewhat the same problem. I find if the inner membrane is tough I break the yolk every time. I just thought it was normal.
I've had my hens for about a year and 3 months. They started laying about 5 months old and all was normal until about 3 months ago. Someone...

Yes, small end down always. Yes, received all the Barred Rocks at the same time. When I hard boil the eggs and peal them it just seems the yoke is right next to shell. The eggs look normal from the outside and have good shape and density. Thanks for your reply, jj
Thank you for your reply. It seems no one has heard of this "Yoke" thing which I am very surprised about. It could very well be something genetic. The mystery continues! Sigh.
Can anyone tell me what causes a yoke to stick to the shell inside an egg...when the shell is broken the yoke always breaks too, no matter how careful you are. It seems to be only some of the Barred Rock hens in the flock and not the other breeds. I sell the eggs to help pay for feed, etc. and...
Thanks Tulie you confirmed my original question. It sounds like people need to do some personal experimentation and test this Silver theory out. I started adding small amounts of Silver to my hens water and I will report back here with my results. I do believe commercially prepared C Silver for...
I was wondering if anyone has information or experience with giving
Colloidal Silver to chickens. Colloidal Silver is one of the most powerful anti-biotic, anti-viral products on the market having been tested to kill over 650 parasites and very safe for humans but is it safe for chickens...
Thank you all for the info and advice. I have 23 hens and occasionally sell the eggs so this is something that I would like to resolve as soon as possible. The hens have been laying for 5 months now and I haven't changed any handling procedures so its a mystery to me. I guess I need to invest in...
Recently I've had a few eggs where the yolks were broken inside. I'm not sure why this is happening or if it may indicate an illness of some kind. Anyone familiar with this? I would appreciate any info or advice. Thank you.
I have a few hens who are developing bare spots on their backs, I assume it is from the rooster when he mates with them. I noticed today one of the hens was getting too raw and had some bleeding on her back. Not sure what I should do. Isolate the hens or rooster?
Appreciate any advice, thank you.
