    I think 2 and 4 are actually the same chicken! Here are hopefully better pics - not in same order. First one hatched late May-early June, other 3 early May.

    These 2 are 5 months old - I had been thinking pullets, but now I am wondering about the red one. They are both mixed breeds. They are giant compared to all my other girls and the others in their flock were very obviously either boys or girls weeks and weeks ago. I have not yet seen these 2...

    I also keep mine at 95 at hatch and first week. Then decrease by five degrees each week. Since he has a bit of a rough start and is by himself I might go slower with reducing the temp. God bless you and your little chick! Glad you were able to rescue him :):):)

    Thanks for the feedback! I am going to try to splint it today and see how she does. I don't mind close observation for a bit since she is so young. If she were older maybe she'd be in the stew pot for dinner tonight. They aren't laying much now anyway, my 17 layers are only giving me about 3...

    I have a hen that is an 11 month old Barred Rock. I am pretty sure she got her leg run over by the car today. It just hangs limp and she obviously can't walk on it. Is there anything I can do for her? Or will she need to go in the freezer? If there is no hope for recovery then I don't want...

    Thanks for the feedback. Sadly, I tried antibiotics for about a month, topical, oral, and subcutaneous but it only got worse. She is in chicken heaven now.....never even had a chance to lay an egg, poor girl. She didn't develop like her flock mates that were the same age though, I think there...
