Hi there. A friend got my daughter silkie chicks for her birthday, 2022 4-H projects. Just curious if any are bearded, I'm only finding image searches of grown birds.
We've had them since Saturday, and I can't get over how quiet they are... I've lost track of the amount of chicks I've hatched...
Good morning. I got 7 bantam cochin chicks last week. I know 1 will be black, 1 blue and 2 buffs.... the black and one buff ones are frizzles. These 3 she said might be a mille fluer pattern. What are your guesses?
Want to know why? Because that was the one I helped hatch because it got shrink wrapped in it's she'll. It then had wry neck and spraddle leg and my kids named it Whiskers. We joked all along that'd it'd wind up being a roo because we did such to save it.
Thanks for the assurance. I moved them and their 6 chicks combined yesterday. I'm kind of impressed and amused by their coparenting of the chicks. No issues and all are happy and thriving.
Hi there. We had 2 broody hens, one buff and one lavender orpington, that I had to move because they were making it impossible to collect eggs. I moved them to a small penned off portion of my chick stall with their own boxes while I figured out what to do with them. They were each given 6 eggs...
Hi there. I have 3 Delawares that are about 8 weeks. I'm pretty sure the first is a roo, the second a pullet, and the third has me confused. It's comb is smaller and paler than the roo, but it has a very smutty back, which from what I read is more common in a roo. Any guesses are greatly...
Hi there. We are currently hatching a handful of eggs from our laying hens. I had 2 hatch that are black, so I am guessing they were from our barred rock hen. We have an Easter Egger roo who is the father of all of the chicks. Because he is not a pure Ameracauna, will the combination make a sex...
We have 20 cornish x's in our barn right now. These are much taller and leaner than those. When they were really small I questioned it, but their feathers and build was always different than my x's. The other 2 don't have that indent, so maybe it's one that maker he cross
Well its pretty cute and has a good temperament, it's kind of my favorite. I'm guessing since they messed it up the first time, this also might be a mess up. It was a few days younger than the others, but it's noticeably smaller. They are are local farm trying to sell quality birds of breed...
So we got some chicks a few weeks back. We thought they were Delawares, but the hatchery goofed and sent us white leghorns.one of the birds isn't as white as the others and it looks like it has cream colored feathers coming in. Could it just be a non pure one?
Hi all. My little speckleds are just over 3 weeks old. I know it's very early to tell, but I think the big one may be a rooster, which is okay. He is almost twice the size of the other two, and stands tall like an ostrich. The first pic is the one in question, but they are all so cute.
