So I've had a pair of Muscovies for almost a year now.... They have been together since I saved them from a duck farmer. Other ducks have come & gone along the way, some have stayed around but these 2 were inseparable, Sophie (the Drake) has also always been the alpha over all the ducks. Of...
Ok ladies Amiga & miss Lydia. I have been collecting the eggs like you said.... Well until she started hiding them n the yard.. I still have taken most of them up but I leave a few so she will have them all in the same place.... I don't know how to tell when she isn't gonna have no more eggs...
Everything I have read online & on here has seemed to not apply to these 2.
Everything I've read so far states they shouldn't even be mating or laying eggs right now. It gets below freezing at night.
I don't have an incubator so I can't hatch them myself. & am afraid they wouldn't survive even...
Miss Lydia,
I have an older duck Duckie & she laid her official 1st 2 eggs 2 days ago. It's really cold here in KY so I took them up. Now she has laid 1 more.... Her & my drake have been attacking me every time I go near the duck house. I'm assuming they don't want me to take this one but she...
I am so so happy to report Coco has gained all movement in her foot!!!! She is walking with almost no wobble. Her feet are turned inward now but I don't think it's a big deal. She is with the babies (now 6 weeks old) & doing very well. They have accepted her with open wings!
Molting? I thought they only did that once; from baby to teen stage. I have 2 older ducks & I have never seen them do this.... I'm just worried she is sick from being inside so much or going back n forth
Miss Lydia,
Coco is loosing feathers like crazy!!!! What is causing this? Do u know?
I've been trying to let her have time outside more & keeping her in at night. This just started 2 days ago... U can see in this pick where they are falling out.
Hello miss Lydia,
I was gonna make a post last night but totally slipped my mind. Lol
She is actually doing well!
I am happy to report while changing her splint this weekend she actually curled her toes under a bit!!!!!
Which of course means she is getting some of the use back in her foot...
Thanks so much for all the advice & words of encouragement. As well as the stories shared. I am so glad I have people to talk to who understand.
Best wishes, Chasity & Coco
This is her favorite place in the house with her favorite teddy bear. Right in front of the mirror! I think it reminds her of her twin brother we lost a few weeks ago. They had this little bear when they were ducklings & after he died I got it back out & she just loves it.
Well, we have been back to the vet the bones have not healed. She has nerve damage but not sure to what extent yet. Her circulation has come back the foot stays pretty warm now but she can't spread her toes at all, that's were the nerve damage comes in. I have taken a finger splint & created a...
