    Sept Silkie hatches (Great Hatches)

hello I've been knocked out with a bad cold for days. In the height of fevers and chills the eggs decided to hatch! 6 out of 7 made it. The one that didn't was strange, it candled showing lots of fluid down 1 side of the chick, but its weigth loss was only a bit behind. It didn't pip, and hardly...

    Sept Silkie hatches (Great Hatches)

from whaty I've read they could have begun a little but remember these have been shipped, disrupting the cells in very early development can stop them developing and thats probably what happened. Look at all the hens in hot iron coops their eggs would be hotter than inside your house. on the...

Silkworm I know exactly how you feel, lost 1 out of 9 that pipped the underside and drowned. beat myself up for not realising what had happened after watching it bump and roll crazily, but we cant go back and undo whats done, so be kind to yourself. hope your back flipper gets its orientation...

I'm not sure what else would explain these sudden deaths, cant be certain its infection but wanted to do what i could just in case. All cleaned, and they are back in. cleaning an incubator mid incubation

thanks Meep beep, there isnt any visible dirt, the eggs aren't dirty looking and no smell what so ever. So its all at microscopic level, and yes I agree its probably in already, its just the fast decline is making me think when it does get in its an aggressive infection, eggtopsie showed no...

    cleaning an incubator mid incubation

hi, I'm worried I'm loosing chicks because of bacteria in the incubator. Seemsd to be the white eggs getting hit, its day 16 problem started at day 13, now loosing 1 a day. they move well and then suddenly go quiet then they stop and the blood vessels recede, first 2 had been trouble eggs...

ruby I'm looking for that thread, am considering putting the eggs on a heatpad and cleaning the incubator with hand sanitiser. it warms up quite fast and its running dry so humidity not such a concern. The nursing bacxkground in me cant deal with the thought of it being bacteria ridden. Any...

    Sept Silkie hatches (Great Hatches)

8 out of 9 is really good. You will have to name wobbly legs something marine related.Under the hen they stick their head up into her feathers so i think the tipping backwards is an instinctive thing to stick their head up combined with weak legs and poor balance, should come good. Chicken...
