Trust us when we say no to two roosters, one day they are fine then the next day they are fighting to the death. You need at least 20 hens per rooster or separate pens.
2 Roosters and one hen will end up in heartbreak, as I learned the hard way. My poor one eyed rooster is the result of us not rehoming soon enough, although he does well now that he is the only male.
My baby chicks turns it's head completely upside down to drink water? It does eat and occasionally I notice it's head cocked to the left. No others display this behavior. Any suggestions? Should I treat for wry neck?
the poop chart was very helpful!!! How do you describe normal poop - thanks. The roos poop looks more like the watery one with a kidney infection, but still may be worms. He did eat some scratch so hopefully he will get better. Thanks guys for all the help.

Just lost my first chicken - hubby said she was listless last night but put her in the hen house. Today she was outside and dead. What do I need to look for if anything to prevent the other girls from the same fate. She was only a year old. I think it's one of my leghorns - they lay...
She is still in the hen box sitting on eggs. I've placed an egg carton with water and some food in the hen box. She is also about 4 inches off the floor - one chick fell out - put it back. Will mom teach the chicks to drink - I know they can survive for a day, but can she do it while still...
Do I need to put them in a brooder or do I let mom do the work? Temps are 60 - 70 days and 50 - 60 nights outside. They have a hen house but shared by the others. Mom seems to be shooing the others away. Help this first time Grandma out. What do I do?
