I found this chick wandering. I'm thinking around 4-6 weeks maybe it's almost entirely feathered except for the neck? Maybe a roo? I thought it looked like a barred rock but it has some brown in the feathering as well. Any input appreciated.
Looks great. It is definitely a challenge at first! You can probably voice sex your duck at this point. If it's raspy, quiet it's probably a boy. Loud quacker, a girl. Also as long as the ducks up moving around and eating then you didn't put it on too tight.
I wouldn't worry about it being too late personally. From what I've seen ducks tend to really start showing signs of angel wing in the 6-8 week stage. Just wrap asap and I'm sure he'll be fine. My duck was wrapped around 7 weeks and had no issues.
I would say he has the start of some angel wing. My Ancona drakes wing looked the same until I wrapped. He literally only needed 24 hours of being wrapped up before it fixed it. I used vet wrap. Took it off after 24 hours and it no longer bent outwards but it hung low. After a week or 10 days he...
I didn't know hens did the neck flare, raptor style lunging thing. I have a dominant hen who's terrible to all new comers at first but she's more of a chaser and pecker of them as opposed to jumping and neck flaring. It's fun to watch them all interact. Such a complex society chickens can be!
I have an Ancona drake. He's almost 8 weeks and just in the last 7 days or so he's showing an angel tip on one wing. Is he still young enough to successfully vet wrap to fix it? Opinions on vet wrap vs nylon sock? I've never dealt with angel win before. The pic isn't the best but the only one I...
