Hi, I have a Svart Hona that purchased from Greenfire Farms and for some reason, he/she does not have feathers but has down. It sort of looks like a Hedemora but Greenfire Farms assures me he/she is a Svart Hona! Anybody else go through the same problem?

Hmm, well all of mine that are 5 days old all have flat combs right now. Many of them aren't though. I have 3 Orust's, 2 Svart Hona's, a Lyonnaise, 2 Lemon East Frisian Gulls, 2 White Pavlovskaya's, 2 Marsh Daisies, a Bielefelder, 4 Swedish Flower Hens, 2 Cream Legbars.

Actually, all my chicks are 6 days and all of them have flat areas. The one's that are a bit older have combs. I think it takes at least a week to two for combs to start to develop. I also googled pictures of chicks and it seems that very young ones are all flat.

I'm not that experienced, so I have no idea. They still haven't developed combs yet so I can't tell! Yeah ): They actually ended up giving me extra's.. These three are not even on the list of what I was supposed to get. They're completely mystery chicks! And although they're great - they really...

They all have such interesting masks. I also have Bielefelders, Cream Legbars, and Swedish Flower Hens but they do not look like this.

Hmm! Maybe! Greenfire Farms don't have Welsummers on their website but I can see the relation. All three of them have a that black little line on their faces though. The other two have more black on their faces. I'll try to get some pictures!

Sadly, today one of my Svart Hona's chick died and the other one is very, very weak. I have no idea what's going on! Still, two out of 32 is pretty good. Well, I also lost a SFH so technically, three dead out of 32 is pretty good. I think some chicks are just weaker than others. It's sad really...
