They are saying so but I want to be sure for myself. They are being bought for someone else who wants only Dominiques. I would hate to give them anything other than Dominique.
I will look for the points. I looked online at some of the hatcheries videos & I just couldn't tell a difference. The coloring & markings looks virtually the same & you couldn't get a good enough look at the combs to tell.
I'm new to this site & wondering if there is a way to tell day old to 1 week old Barred Rock chicks from day old Dominique chicks. I have the opportunity to buy some Dominique chicks & it just occurred to me that I don't know the difference in the chicks. I did some research but they still...
I don't think I replied to your post. I thought I had. Been having some connection issues. I do want to thank you for this information. It is certainly helpful. I had no idea what this pretty guy was...only that he is beautiful. Again, thank you.
Last mystery rooster. In advance, I want to thank you for your help. This is a little red rooster that also came from the farmer who called his birds, Game Birds. If you can help with identifying this breed, I would appreciate it.
I have a couple more mystery roosters. I thought this one might be a Red Jungle Fowl bantam. He's the little guy in the front of my gorgeous boy. Your input would be appreciated.
Thank you so much. I looked the Silver Duckwing up & he does look like that except my boy has a huge comb compared to the roosters I saw online. Do game birds usually have large combs? Maybe he is a mix.
The old farmer who sold roosters to us said this was a game bird. I know nothing about game birds. Could someone please tell me what breed he is? He was just a couple of weeks old when we got him & he has grown into a gorgeous bird but I have no idea what he is. Getting ready to sell him &...
He very well could be a mix. The farmer we got him from had all sorts of chickens running around loose. He had a lot of what he called game birds too but he didn't seem to know exactly what he had. He called everything a game bird. I have done some more looking & came across the Salmon...
Here he is, my gorgeous boy but I don't know what he is. When we got him, he was tiny & so pecked up, we couldn't tell what he was. He has grown into a regal, beautiful bird but we still don't know his breed. Can anyone here tell me?
Thank you RoseMarie. My avatar picture of the Orpington (black & white) is my rooster, Huckleberry. He's a sweetie just like my girl, Shirley (she is solid black). The bantam roosters are all game roosters except one & he is a Red Jungle Fowl.
My sister tells me not to name the females, only the males. She named her male bird but not her hens. I remember you talking about Patty. I love that! I have one Orpington that is like that with me. We had a small flock of bantam roosters that free ranged & that whole flock would run to me...
Thank you.
I am just now understanding the main traits for the grown birds. I will have to do some reading about the traits to look for in the chicks. I refer back to this site often to read & re-read: http://jimspetsandpoultry.weebly.com The site was posted on this thread & it has been...
