The old farmer who sold roosters to us said this was a game bird. I know nothing about game birds. Could someone please tell me what breed he is? He was just a couple of weeks old when we got him & he has grown into a gorgeous bird but I have no idea what he is. Getting ready to sell him & people want to know what they are buying.

I believe that he is a silver duckwing American game - he's a beauty.

Thank you so much. I looked the Silver Duckwing up & he does look like that except my boy has a huge comb compared to the roosters I saw online. Do game birds usually have large combs? Maybe he is a mix.

Game roosters are frequently dubbed - have their combs and wattles removed.

Hi,
It's a Red Shouldered Silver Duckwing Game. Has autosomal Red added to the SD genotype which is causing the red shoulder. Here's a pic of a pure Silver Duckwing, pure white shoulder.

I ran into the RSSD when trying unsuccessfully to try and breed Golden Salmon Marans. A ereal pretty color.
Best,
Karen

I don't think I replied to your post. I thought I had. Been having some connection issues. I do want to thank you for this information. It is certainly helpful. I had no idea what this pretty guy was...only that he is beautiful. Again, thank you.
