I’m not sure. I had just taken her out of confinement without food and water so she wasn’t able to bathe herself. None of the others have it. I guess I just assumed it was “sleep” in her eye and hadn’t taken a bath.
Poop seems normal though decreased significantly while withholding food which I would think is normal. Feeding high protein chick starter and brewers yeast. Going to the feed store for grit today.
It should be that large and very squishy?! None of my other ducks look like this even right after they’ve eaten and I have two others of the same breed.
I did end up putting heee back with her friends this morning since keeping her separate didn’t seem to help. I figured we all need our friends and being alone doesn’t make you feel any better!
I’m feeding with brewers yeast added. Yes they have constant water, a small kiddie pool just deep enough to swim but can still stand up. Yes, outside in a temp penn/coop. Like I said, kinda got thrown into this so right now they are in a chain link dog kennel with chicken wire wrapped around it...
I recently acquired 6 ducklings through a friend of a friend situation who wasn’t aware she couldn’t have them in the city so I didn’t have time to properly research what they needed for care. They are just starting to get they’re adult feathers. I know nothing about ducks and have been doing as...
This is kinda large, about the width of a pencil. I thought their ear was smaller than that. It did have a small dot of what I think was blood and looked a little swollen. Her feathers weren't covering the opening at all. I'll post a pic tomorrow. I'm sorry, but I just left for work and work...
I just woke up and let the chickens out to free range and noticed one of my girls has what I can only describe as a busted eardrum! It is a hole where her ear is! I can't find anything online about it. She is completely healthy other than that. None of my other girls have it. Could it be an...
I understand your point and I was pretty angry, and the dog got a scolding for sure, but I can't shoot a dog for being a dog and I can't shoot a chicken just because it's inconvenient to help her heal. It was our fault for not checking the yard better.
She does not have any open wounds, leg injuries or stomach swelling. Her poops seem normal, certainly not black. Her eyes look normal, possibly a little brighter, but pupils normal. She wasn't eating and drinking. When I got home from work last night, I thought I was going to have to put her...
She does not have any open wounds. She wasn't eating and drinking. When I got home from work last night, I thought I was going to have to put her down. She had extremely labored breathing through her mouth, her comb was very white colored and she was shivering. She didn't even wake up when I...
Two days ago, one of my free range hens got over the fence and my dog got her. She definitely has a broken wing. We wrapped her wing, brought her inside, and started antibiotics. She was acting fine right after the attack aside from her wings hanging down. The following day she couldn't walk...
Unfortunately, one of my free range chickens got over the chain link fence and my dog got her. She has a broken wing for sure but aside from that was acting fine. We bandaged her wing to her body and separated her from the flock so they didn't pick on her. The next day she was falling over when...
