Broody & Chicks: Not eating crumbles

Hm... I thought letting a broody take care of things would be easier for me! The chicks hatched over the weekend but not only have I rarely seen her eat, I've also seen her eat shavings and make the food noise for the chicks. It's so frustrating to see the chicks searching for food and walk...

Set eggs under broody 4/30 Anyone want to join me?

It has now been 20 days and 9 hours and so far, 2 chicks have hatched! Cluck is a proud first-time mama! I took a peek under there cause I was worried about ants harassing the eggs cause I saw some in the nest but it seemed okay. Looks like there are a few pips too! Exciting day!

Set eggs under broody 4/30 Anyone want to join me?

I just set 14 eggs under my RIR. I picked them up from MrsSmith today and they're a mix of EEs, an olive egger, and BCMs. I wanted to fit as many eggs as I could under her but I'm concerned I may have overdid it... She's a first time broody and she's been sitting on some of my unfertile eggs...

We built him a coop and he hangs out in the backyard. At the time, I was pretty new to chickens, so...

    She's really a rooster, right?

Oh no, Cluck was full-grown when I got him. I assume he was just wandering the streets when he flew into my uncle's yard. I guess I kind of assumed he was a 'she' because of the lack of spurs and aggression and I figured he wasn't laying because of stress or his molt. We live in the suburbs...

    She's really a rooster, right?

This is Cluck. My uncle found her scratching up his garden two months ago and brought her to me. She is the catalyst that started me on my backyard chicken journey and for that, I am grateful. I now have 5 chicks that are growing fast. I figured she was a Rhode Island Red or New Hampshire...
