My coops and enclosed area are actually very big for 5 chickens. I had chickens and ducks together for a while so I have two coops in a very large dog kennel and they free range. Thanks so very much for the food advice, the breakdown is helpful!
The chicks and the younger chickens are completely speperate from the one layer. The older ones will go out soon and the chicks have another 5 weeks to go.
I just went for it and kept a close eye on them, since the older ones seemed so calm natured I felt it was ok. It's been a week now and they have been fine! They all cuddle up together and don't fight for food. I think that's a big factor, just making sure they have enough food.
Hi there, I have a small coop. I have one layer and lost one recently. So, I got two more RIRs that are 4 weeks now and two Golden Comets that are 4 days old. How should I go about everyone's feeding when I put the chicks outside??
Also any free ranging tips? I grow barley and wheat grass but...
I can post pics soon but after I made this post I got a dog kennel that some would probably say is too big for my four chickens but I like that they have room. Look into dog kennels, those are easy to set up. I put chicken wire on top and also lined the cage with chicken wire, so they wouldn't...
I need to switch mine over to something else now. They haven't been eating the chick starter feed I get at the feed store which I believe is purina that they just seperate and bag themselves. I did add Brewers yeast for them and I just added some cracked corn still not really touching it whereas...
Glad you asked I have two Khaki Campbell ducklings at 4 weeks and two road island reds at 3 weeks and they will be in the same coop with no older birds, I was wondering when a good time would be for me to let them all in the coop
So I seem to have some picky Khaki Campbell ducklings and my feed store is limited. I can however get the supplies to mix up my own if someone is willing to share a good recipe with measurements. I just have two ducklings that are 4 weeks now so if if anyone has more than one recipe for when...
I called over to my feed store and they don't have any other brands of feed but they suggested I add cracked corn to what I have what do you think and do you have any brands you would suggest that I could order from somewhere?
Thanks, I think they are completely turned off lol they'd were eating it just fine for two weeks and now it seems like it's just sitting there. Since the chicks are now devouring the feed I will just get the ducks something else
They aren't in the run yet, actually hoping to do that this week. They are barely touching the starter feed and it's been about two days now. I guess I'm giving them enough peas :/
So I have introduced my two khaki Campbell ducklings to peas and herbs and now they arent really eating the chick starter feed. what should I do to make sure they're getting enough food
