Thank you, GrandmaBird! Sorry I've been late replying here, it's been crazy with college classes lately. Ugh. Still haven't found a hen for him, but the gal that gave him to me - her hen's gone broody on 8 eggs. We can only hope! -

She won't. She had him and his male cage mate, and when she introduced a hen, my guy went after the hen aggressively. The other roo fell in love with the hen, and... I got this guy. A friend of mine gave me a male button quail recently. He spent his first two days calling for his ex-cage mates, and since then he's calmed a lot. He still calls though. I've been having a terrible time finding him a hen or two! I'm in Beaverton, OR - and the nearest breeder is almost an hour... -

Stressed all my Buttons

Blast it- I called and she doesn't have any of it- and did NOT sound keen on ordering it. When I get paid or Friday (Which ever comes first) I'll just order some from Acadiana Aviaries. -

pine litter with chlorophyll? how about corn cob?
I would worry about impaction with corn cob, honestly. It happens in small critters kept on corn cob. I've been told they pick and munch, and it swells when it gets wet. -

I can't seem to find a high enough protein feed- 20% was the highest I've found - in small enough quantities. Two little Button Quail aren't going to eat a 50lb bag of feed before it goes bad, and that is ALL I've seen. Do they even make this stuff in smaller bags? Or should I just give up and... -

I didn't have them- I went out and got them bright and early in the morning. I got them after all the pet stores were closed that first night, so the next day I went and got grit, oyster shell, a waterer, shavings, etc. I mixed some cat food into the sunflower/peanut/etc bird food, and will... -

There we go. Got them grit, oyster shell, millet, shavings, a waterer- I'll be picking up the food shortly. They also got some crickets. The roo didn't seem to even care or realize they were there- the hen went after them like they were candy O.o They also both went after the grit and oyster... -

Quite the weird week I've had! But now I have 2 adult buttons- 1 hen, 1 roo, and a clutch of eggs to boot. I'll need a bigger home for them ASAP. I'll get a bird waterer tomorrow, and food. I'm still in shock! -
Is there any way to get just a couple Button eggs?
