I'm planning on getting call ducks soon. I know they are very small and I'm wondering how they are if left to free range in an area with a vegetable garden. Will they damage the garden? I would love to use them for insect control, but don't want them to destroy the garden in the process. Does...
I'm so glad I found this post! I'm planning on getting call ducks soon. Probably snowy, but I think the white ones are adorable too.
Does anyone have pictures of their call duck's eggs and more pictures of call ducks?
Also, any advice about how I should construct their house, pen, and pond...
You are making me want Cayugas! I already love their coloring and I think their eggs are neat. I'm undecided though. Black East Indies are like a miniature version almost and there are Black Calls too. If I decide on getting a Cayuga I will order from Metzer Farms as well. Did you have a good...
What color call ducks do you have? I think I want snowy, but I like gray and white too. I'm not that familiar with the other colors. Do they all have the same temperament?
That sounds like a large pen, but I guess it's because of the shape. The area I'm planning on using is rectangular.
Do you...
Thank you so much for this post! It is incredibly useful.
My cat eats Taste of the Wild Canyon River dry food. It has 32% protein and 16% fat. Would this be ok for my ducks? Is there anything in pet food that should be avoided?
This question is for anyone that has experience with Cayugas or Black East Indies. I'm considering getting either a pair of Black East Indies or one Cayuga hen to go with my flock of Welsh Harlequins. I'm interested in the egg color. While the two breeds are similar I want to know their...
I just had a former call duck breeder tell me that call ducks lay greenish to white eggs. I was really hoping I could tell the eggs apart. Mainly because I want more than one variety. They're all so cute!
What color eggs do call ducks lay? Does each kind lay the same color? I want to breed snowy call ducks, but thought about getting a few gray or white hens. Would I be able to tell the eggs apart, so I wouldn't end up with a mixed breed?
I'm thinking about getting call ducks. I plan on having about twelve. What size pen would they need? How much space is needed per call duck? How big should their house be and what are the dimensions for nesting boxes? Thanks for any information.
