Is it normal for Chickens to sneeze?

My CLB sneezes when we’ve had frost. It doesn’t snow here. It’s hilarious as it sounds like a squeaky toy.

Chick with odd body and wing shape

I’m hoping it won’t mean I can’t rehome it when the time comes. We hatched 5 and I only have space for 1 more bird. Also think it’s a roo.

Chick with odd body and wing shape

I managed to get a few snaps this morning. It is the less feathered chick in the first two photos and the one closest to Mum in the last.

Chick with odd body and wing shape

Both legs are similarly positioned - so at the least it looks symmetrical in that respect. However when it hatched the right leg was more splayed than the left and the turned feathers are on the right.

Chick with odd body and wing shape

I have a chick that hatched under a hen almost 4 weeks ago. It started out with what seemed to be spraddle leg. I did splint it temporarily and do some “chicken physiotherapy” with it and it was up and running within 24 hours but it’s never really looked right in respect to it’s body shape -...

    Switching chickens!

Honestly if I could get the injured one outside I could. I live in Australia - it’s hot and we have a lot of flies. Given the size of her wound if I put her out she will be eaten by maggots. I also have to medicate her and clean and apply medicated cream to the wound twice daily. Until that...

    Switching chickens!

Update! I have successfully rehomed my 3 RIRx - although I finally established it was only one bird being utterly vicious. I also got another coop smaller than my original one but as big as I could fit. I have added 2 new polish to this smaller coop, and my uninjured legbar and a Wyandotte...

    Switching chickens!

Have updated location. I am in Canberra, Australia. It’s late summer here and as mentioned previously we’re coming off the back of a heatwave where it was 43c/110f for a week, and then 38/100 for another couple and we’re now looking at 30-35/85-95 for the coming week. Come winter we’ll get down...

    Switching chickens!

I’d like to expand the run into the raised area around it, and that would assist with an extended/integration run situation, but I’m having trouble acquiring another hen house/nest box that will fit the space as it’s not quite rectangular. I’m not so handy to do one myself.

    Switching chickens!

It’s the whole thing, I think the size is a contributing factor but I still think my original 3 are just nasty birds. I’ve moved the polish out to be with the injured one. I’m down to 5 in there and today the remaining 2 non-bully birds are looking quite picked over, in particular the other...

    Switching chickens!

Some interesting ideas here. I think I’ve just got a really tumultous few weeks coming up with them. The amount of sleep I’ve lost over the situation already is pretty ridiculous. I’ve moved my polish in with my injured legbar and other than the polish being a bit confused it seems ok. Given the...

    Switching chickens!

Yes, it’s prefab. About 8sqm floor space and over 7m of perches between the coop and run. Unfortunately the bullies aren’t laying yet, but would be close at 20 weeks and their combs and wattles have all turned a nice red recently. I do wonder if the heat has knocked them all about in that...

    Switching chickens!

Perhaps this is a combination of both. The bullies were 12 weeks old when we got them. We had them for 7 days before we were able to add the 2 legbar, the polish and the Wyandotte who had all come together. The birds I added were all 5-6 months old and bigger but the original 3 were pretty...

    Switching chickens!

I should specify, that is my current polish suggested to accompany the legbar.

    Switching chickens!

After some brutal pecking that led to surgery, and now a month of isolation for treatment for one of my cream legbar girls I have decided to get rid of my three bully chickens (RIRXAustralorp) from my flock, however I’m keen to maintain the same sized flock. Aside from the bullies I have 2...

    Coturnix male attacking female

About a month ago I got 4 quail. They were supposed to be all female but as it turns out one is a male. I'm not bothered by this and they all seemed to get along fine. Then on Friday the male started attacking one of the females and broke her beak. I quarantined her for 48 hours and remixed them...
