Hello
iam hoping this is the right place for this topic, but here it goes.
i have five hens, 2 SLWs, 1 welsumer, 1 EE, 1 blue americana. four i got this spring and have not started laying yet. one is older, got from a friend, she is laying, but getting less and less
my question is, iam thinking...
wow! that is practically her twin!
Her dad was a full size big "ameraucana" (EE) rooster from Welp Hatchery. the mom was purchased from someone locally as an EE. the mom laid pale green eggs. so i figure with dad's blue gene and mom's light green gene, i should get some colour...right?
any...
i got this little girl a few days ago. anyone's guess on if i'll get blue/green eggs from her?
does she look like maybe a bantam too? i was told she is three months old. i included a picture of her with my full size SLW. this little girl is much much smaller then my welsummer that was hatched...
iam going to try all of these ideas
going to the feed store for some DE, Grocery store for some ziplocks and vinegar, moved "bag o' flies" already
any ideas are surely welcomed and will be tried
also, does anyone know what type of ground the flies like? damp, dry, cool, hot?
i could try and...
you know, i was wondering about the fly traps, if they are bringing more of them in!
i have them right in the "affected" area.
ill move them and see if that works
with the DE, i just spread it in their area?
right now its just the packed dirt that's naturally there
thanks~

Hello
iam really very new to chickens, this is my first summer with my fine feathered friends...
i would really use some advice on fly control.
right now my two (soon to be five) girls have one area about 10X10 feet and access to a side yard about 15X40. the smaller area has alot of flies and...
pips&peeps :
Your birdie is an easter egger, and nine timee out of ten that particular color is female.
ok
thanks, a bit reassuring
just curious, what makes it a EE vs. an amerucana?
you guys are entertaining lol
ok, so nothing screams roo and the obnoxious behavior could just be the way s/he is
it will be interesting when the new critter meets "the girls"
lets see who is dominate then!
here's my 4+ week old Amerucana (EE) chick.
whatcha think? roo or pullet?
i just worry a bit because this one is a bit of a pain.
he/she likes to jump, fly and land on the backs of the other chickies :-/
from the back
the front
thanks!
that's what i was thinking after looking at the pics and other australorps!
i had ordered a australorp pullet from Ideal. the order had 30+ chicks, my friend sorted hers and mine.
i think she gave me a SLW and not one of the austalorps haha
but shes such a sweetheart, so it doesn't matter...
"Ookie" is about four weeks old now and i notice a slight color on the comb...are we heading towards roo-hood?
and a little amerucana same age
i know my pics arent the best...sorry
AHH ok i get it.
they may actually be a bit younger, so that would confirm even more both roos.
thank you so much!
these aren't my birds, i was planning on buying the one, thinking it was a pullet.
bummer that its not, was looking forward to "cammo" eggs lol
WOW really?!
since iam totally new at this, why would you say a roo?
here's some more pictures including one with her nest mate... is that one also a roo? the brownish one...
HI
iam looking to get an "Olive-Egger", but before i do, can i get some opinions on weither these are roo's or pullets.
i was told that she thinks the black one is a pullet and the chipmunk one is a roo
they are 10 weeks old and are out of a Black copper Marans roo and a aracuna hen
thanks for...
hello all
Iam new to this so bear with me. i bought a Black copper Maran "hen" about 2 months ago. within the last few weeks (s)he has been getting red feathers on the back area and growing very tall... rooster?
if it is, i'll have to sell him, i can't have a rooster where iam at
thanks for...
HI!
I have a young Black Copper Maran that I bought as a hen, turns out its growing into a rooster!
i can;t have rooster's where I am at so he needs to go to a new home.
i would be willing to trade him for an egg laying hen also
if not, $15 OBO. i am really not looking to make money, just...
