We found ours because thw chicken farm had signs on the road that they had chickens for sale. I didn't know they were even there until I followed the signs!
I actually went back and got two more hens! As soon as I put them with the first two, they perked up and started scratching and pecking around. I guess they needed more hens to feel like a flock! None layed an egg today, but they seem to be healthy and active.
I got two hens today, they came from a commercial factory. They look to be in rough shape, but I guess they will feather out with time. They were housed in pretty close quarters. They seem healthy, but a little scared. Although, I think they like their extra space! I'll probably wait a few weeks...
[/IMG]I've gotten some Madagascar Games chicks, and I'm going to document their development here! I'll post as they seem to change in appearance. They look to be 4 blue, 2 black and one splash chick. They are also a straight run, so we'll see how many turn out to be roos!
Thanks for the information! I got them for fun because I liked their colors. It's a straight run, so I hope I get a hen or two. It might be neat to have a little flock of them!
Do all turkens/ naked necks have a single comb? I've had some in the past that had a single comb. But these have a flat comb, like a pea or walnut or some such. So it threw me off when I saw it.
I picked up 7 of these from the feed store, thinking they were naked necks. Now I'm not so sure. They appear to have pea combs. They are very leggy. Any opinions on what they are?
