    One lonely chicken

Just an update, Ecalir is now fully integrated, it took a while and she's very much near the bottom of the flock but holds her own and is the sweetest, most inquistive chicken. Sits on my feet and follows me around, but does her own thing in the flock oo. Just took time and a bit of pecking and...

    Strange symptoms! Still laying?

Hi, One of my white stars has been laying fine, eggs every day and one today. However this evening she had what looked like mishapen shell less egg and is looking uncomfortable. She then had a white poo, which all the other girls wanted to eat. Her wings are hanging a little, and she seems a...

    One lonely chicken

Thanks! Tried with raisins and corn this morning and although interested she wasn't risking it. She did follow me across the yard though. Sweet but I don't fancy being a chicken bouncer . Just to clarify all the girls all roost at night no problems on their sleeping compartment perches, it's...

    One lonely chicken

Hi, I'm currently in the process of integrating 3 new chickens, two white stars and a black rock, with my existing 2 speckedlys. The new hens are POL and the older 2 I'm not sure about. They're in a brand new, much larger coop and so it's new territory for all.The white stars are doing fine ...

I tried dipping her into cold water and setting ice under her, I've taken her out of the nest box everyday and she gets on fine whilst she's ranging, for hours at a time, but then goes straight...

    Damaged beak

Hi, my hybrid chicken Battenberg developed a bump on the top of her beak not long after we got her. I took a pic of her a few weeks ago but the bump isnt very clear. I went to check on her this afternoon and the bump appears to have been knocked as theres quite a bit of dried blood on it. Just...

    Keeping chickens amused

Hi, I'm new here and need some advice. I have two hybrid marans who have just starting laying. I've noticed they keep picking each others tail feathers, and although they don't seem to be causing damage I'm concerned. Atm they're in lock down following outbreaks of avian flu here which...

    Hello - We're newbies!

Hello, I'm new too. We have two lovely speckedly chooks called Madeira and Battenberg. Theyre awesome and have so much personality. Madeira is laying an egg a day and we've had one or two from Battenberg. Looking forward to getting to grips with this site - its been a font of knowledge already!
