I just thought a bit of hen company would help.

Hi iv been wondering about putting a chicken in the stable ( in a seperate enclosed run) with my 5 wk old chicks as a role model. Iv noticed they mainly feed and drink when I'm with them and they follow me when I leave :( I have 2 broodie adult hens. Or would you choose the lowest on the...

Super chuffed :) I've just found a local source of fertile turkey eggs to incubate which means I can keep 2 girls for my Tommy. Ive heard some say that they are setting turkey and chicken eggs in the incubator at the same time what about quail? Sorry to hear of the bad weather you all having.

You do all make me laugh! :) as for round here I have people ask if you can actually eat turkey eggs?! Turkeys are just not common and generally got bad press from what people have heard. Also it scares me to hear of you dealing with tornadoes! And on a regular basis! I mean I find it...

I have to say we're pretty lucky with our Tommy. With this bird flu ban we had to put him straight into an enclosed stable (netting over top door). I made a point of taking kids in with me so he could get used to them and (fingers crossed) I think it's worked as he accepts my little but loud...

Hi I'm new to turkeys also and the others are experts for the advice. But I just have to say my 2 were hatched by a chickens and they have fitted in nicely with my flock. Chickens don't know age just size and they will have their own pecking order. I do give mine a shed each but Delilah chooses...

When playing with young chickens, could I play in a sandbox with them?

Hi I really like the sounds of your plans for keeping chickens :) I have 2 sons who are autistic and they love having all the animals around. We already have chickens and have just hatched 7 healthy chicks! (3 days old) It was great fun to watch. I'm still learning about raising chicks but as...

Small smear of blood can be normal. Have you eaten one yet?? My neighbor/chicken sitter and I are fighting over Annie's eggs! We both love eating them! Daisy has not layed yet. Starting to wonder why not. Boy was Annie vocal yesterday evening! Not sure what was going on with her...

That's me went down to lock the birds in for bed and found Tommy perched all alone in his shed and where was Delilah? She had only gone and squeezed herself into the chicken coop and was perched among the chickens! I couldn't leave poor Tommy all alone so I picked her up and carried her next...
