That Blue Andalusian does NOT like being handled. She absolutely hates it. She's very pretty though. So I don't really mess with her more than necessary. I love her striking coloring though, she's going to be a very pretty hen.
I don't think easter egger. . . . she doesn't have any ear puffs...
I took a few pics today. It’s miserable outside though. I have never been more grateful that I put stall mats in my coop than I have been this winter. Otherwise it would be so muddy.
This is the dark blue chick now at almost six weeks:
This is what I think is the cream legbar:
This is...
Well, they are almost six weeks old. And of the mystery chicks, so far I think I
have:
The ones I am pretty certain of:
Blue Andalusian (quite the striking bird, already)
Buff Brahma (already the biggest by far)
Lavender Orpington
White leghorn
Blue Splash Marans (that will make two, I got...
I haven't found -any- pictures anywhere of bantam chicks that look like these speckled ones. . . except possibly silver sebrights, which would THRILL me. . . but I feel like that is too much to hope for. Or Silver spangled hamburg bantams. . . ?
fell off the wagon and brought home four cuties, my first bantams. Got two of each of these, I can’t find anything looks like either of these.
These have the stripe, but it’s kind of blurry, and very feathered legs and feet.
These are very tiny, and speckled with blue or black.
Any...
This is the dark blue chick now. She is extremely flighty and absolutely hates being touched. Should I still think Blue Andalusian? Grouchy Drama Queen.
This striped one is developing a little crest. Only one chicken on the list of possibilities grows a crest and comes in that color as a...
I'm actually quite hoping one is a white leghorn. I have a serious lack of white
egg layers in my flock, so I had added the two assorted white layers, I like
surprises. :)
The olive egger has a wild type pattern, but when I took the band off I put a dab
of food coloring on her head so I...
I ordered from Meyer, and my order consisted of 1 olive egger pullet (who was banded),
2 Easter Egger pullet, 1 Meal Maker, 2 assorted white layer pullet and 6 rare breed assorted pullet
Blue Andalusian? Could be either rare breed or the white layer assorted.
This one I have NO idea. It...
Annnd I'm pretty sure the Swedish Flower that has been the favorite is a rooster. I am NOT happy. He can't stay. I do not need or want a rooster, which is why I paid for all pullets. . I wasn't sure until today, but I'm reasonably sure now. There's been no crowing or chasing the girls just yet...
She's definitely not a bantam. She isn't that small, just not growing as fast as the
others, and bantams are not included in this assortment from Meyer.
She just must be a slow developer. She's so cute though, and the friendliest one.
WHile the rest are trying to do the Kool-aid man through...
I think you are absolutely correct. There is two of those in there.
I am in love with the little Brahma. Even if she has faulty plumage, she is just a doll baby. She's one of the smallest . . which is weird since Brahmas are big, aren't they?
The Swedish Flower girls are Inga and Eina. And...
Thought I would post updated pics since they will be six weeks Monday. I partitioned off part of the coop for them so they could meet the big girls for a while. The big girls were intrigued for all of five minutes. Lol.
Columbian Wyandotte?
Do we still think this is a light Brahma? She...
#1 has orange/yellow legs. I thought of splash something too, since it was a pure yellow chick .. but now has seemingly random dark spots and white feathers coming in. Pretty big.
#2 cuckoo marans would be awesome. I love Marans.
#3 same baby. Only feather legged in the lot except my BCM...
So I guess the brown chicks are as Obicat guessed. . . .Swedish Flower, crested variety? How neat. The other one looks a little different from her, but they looked exactly the same as chicks. She's a drama queen too. :)
This one is developing dark splotches on tail and wings.
This one looks like it is developing barring.
The cutie pie feathered leg.
The one getting white splotches/spangles..and a head tuft?
the one in the second picture, just to left of center is one of the brown chicks. It LOOKs like it has spangles, although not evenly distributed. There is little white spots on her. The one a little further right, also preening is the other brown one (I think they are the same thing, whatever...
I took in the feral cat who was here when we bought our place. He is a champion killer. He brings me rats, mice, voles, pigeons and occasionally. . rabbits. He has never, ever bothered or shown any interest in my chickens. In fact he is afraid of them. He does go to the barn, but he is killing...
