    Copper Maran X Cochin questions

Hi, I'm not sure I'm in the correct category - sorry if I should have tried somewhere else! :) We have a mixed flock with only two roosters. We have Black Copper Maran hens that were covered by our Blue Cochin. These pullets are now about 3 months old. Can anyone tell me, once they start...

    Wart-like bumps on chicks

Thank you for your time! There were two broody hens. We moved the one out last week as she started laying again, and just left the one who was still keeping the babies close. We've never seen her bothering any of them... The area is quite large, it was our peacock pen last year. We're in...

    Wart-like bumps on chicks

We have 6-week old chicks, about 14 in a pen with their momma hens. On 3 of 14 we have noticed small lessons or bumps that look similar to warts. We cannot get any fluid out of them. They are not on their faces or legs, but back/wing or above tail. Just 1-2 bumps per bird. No other symptoms.

    Breed ID please

Thank you for your detailed response. Yes, they are very pretty - super fun to watch them run and fly, too! My youngest son is chicken--obsessed, so I'm trying to encourage him in his passion to learn all he can! :)

    Breed ID please

Hi, my 6-year-old son recently picked up this "Trio" which turned out to be 2 Roos and I hen. :) They're probably 4-5 months old now, very petite Bantam breed, love to fly, HIGH, and do not behave like or hang out with any of the other chickens on our property. Very flighty, not friendly, much...

    Peahen escaped - help!

She came back! We're so grateful! So now I'm wondering, should we attempt to let them free range at all? Or would you only try that with Peafowl raised from hatchlings on your property? We've been wanting to allow them to explore and eat more bugs, but are nervous that we will lose them if...

    Incubation Newbie with questions :)

Hi, this is our first time using an incubator. We are nearing the end of the period, and hope to start hearing little pips any day now. However, for the first week or so, we continued to add eggs, not realizing that there was supposed to be a lock down at the very end. We have some that may...

    Peahen escaped - help!

Hi. We have a Peahen who escaped the aviary she shares with one Peacock sometime this afternoon. No one saw her escape, and we can't find her anywhere. We do see where she found a weak spot in the enclosure and messed around with it until she could fit through. She laid two eggs last week (we...
