    Boston Terrier Thread!!

It's been a while since I posted! I have finally gotten a boston terrier. She's now 16 weeks old and all I've heard is horror stories with bostons and chickens. Even seen ads for people looking to rehome their boston for the killing spree. She's about 10 lbs now and I feel like I need to get her...

Well elk you did it again! I just cracked open the jumbo egg and yes! Double yolker! And now they have all ceased laying. I hope everyone makes it thru the winter here and I'll just hold my breath til spring to see how it all goes! I'd be happy with 1st gen intermediate jumbos. I guess the trick...

    Are these Jumbo?

I have pearl greys and a pair of lavenders. The pearls are HUGE compared to the lavs and just about 5 months old. They are completely seperated from my chickens and I raided the nest and found a guinea egg the size of a medium chicken egg... I've got silkies and normally the guinea eggs are the...

SILKIE colors and what do you get when you cross colors

Leakage is undesirable correct? I'd like to see pics of what it looks like when there's leakage. The gold part of it all throws me.. I just thought partridge was brown with some red or gold-I've never actually seen one. Is there a way to breed for partridge? I've recently been put under the...

    Lucky then unlucky- mixed silkie?

Sorry! The last comment I made took three times to post. We live up in the sticks AND my phones battery is swelling PLUS if it's plugged in I realized today people can't hear me over phone calls and nothing loads :/ I hate to post duplicates I know it bugs the crap out of people for good reason...

    Lucky then unlucky- mixed silkie?

Ugh tried off and on all day to get the pics to load... basically if I don't get the error then it says 100% but doesn't finalize. Regardless as soon as it will I'll post pics! My friend who lent me the rooster had a look at my big white hen he confirmed she's just more of a hatchery silkie but...

    Lucky then unlucky- mixed silkie?

I bought a beautiful show quality (possibly?) silkie hen. Then I found a "trio" of white silkies for sale. Comes to find out it was 2 Roos and a hen :( I sold one roo and just recently sold the other because he was aggressive with my girls and even tried mounting my standard hens! So I have this...

Sexing 3 lavender ameraucanas-no crowing yet

Fairly certain one is a hen. She isn't crouching yet :( I thought the other two were Roos.. but now I'm not sure! The one in the back is older than the front two and I'm suspecting that's the hen (Cloudy is her name)... and now I'm seeing a big comb on one of the youngsters... help!

    Staggered in a hovabator

I'm a newbie to hatching. As a birthday present we bought a 1602n hovabator still air model. First hatch was good on my terms and probably considered fair by most. Second hatch I had Guinea eggs set with chicken eggs on the same day and moved the chickens to a quickly put together hatcher. The...

    Guinea hen broody second time

Haha I wish they would already quit laying and just sit! One of mine is at least a year old and she guards the community nest. I feel like she would sit if the others would stop laying. Her lover has ran off to be with the rest of the flock during free range while she hangs back

Needing advice about Hay as bedding

Thank you! I was thinking of doing the same- putting it outside to control the mud around the coop. Still being put to use so it makes me happy!

    Guinea hen broody second time

I'm so jealous! I have my first guineas finally laying in a community nest and I was hoping to have a late broody but it seems my chances are low since they just started to lay about a month ago

Needing advice about Hay as bedding

I always buy straw and use it as nesting material and I use it for deep coop flooring. However my other half said use this hay! The horses won't eat it because it's been on the ground. So we moved it to the coop and it was moist so I've got it outside to flip it around and dry it out real good...
