So they have started laying! Actually all of my pullets have decided to start laying at the same time (2 Barred rocks, 1 australorp, 3 isa browns, and the 3 easter eggers). Which has me confused on who is laying which. I would find anywhere from 3-7 eggs a day cream/pink, and blue/green im...
They are doing great, although I think it is taking them awhile to lay in the box. Only one of them seem to lay in the box. The rest of the hens lay wherever, I even find them under their roosts. Hoping they learn soon
Might be the last update I do on these chickens, they look better each day. Might just be bad care that made them look so horrible. One of them has started to lay today.
Well breeder replied and said he will get a hold of the person who packed the eggs around 5 days ago and he won’t reply to any of my texts. Guess I won’t be getting my money back.
Even worse news I have been having horrible hatches with my Rcom king suro. Eggs develop well and they just don’t...
i’m been messaging the breeder about the issue, no reply yet. I’m hoping it was a mistake and I can at least get my money back because these eggs were not at all cheap. They don’t seem to have any bad reviews (other than misgendered chicks) and all the photos of buyer’s chicks and eggs look...
Oh no, I ordered pure eggs so this is disappointing. From what I know they have several flocks fenced off from eachother. The ones they were offering were bielefelders, australorps, barred rocks, and game birds.
They sell everything from their eggs all the way to adults. Which confuses me on...
Well this was a bit disappointing! I knew something was up with their eggs, they don’t look like bielefelder eggs (breeder said young pullet eggs (which sounded odd and you shouldn’t really hatch out pullet eggs) and today some are starting to hatch out.
11 eggs went in lockdown
2 Barred rock, 8...
thank you for the information. I think I will do bloodwork on two of the ones with symptoms. This really sucks as I am the only person providing some of these breeds in my city. The ones with symptooms right now is the roo and some pullets, the laying hens are not showing any symptoms just yet...
My chickens have been constantly sneezing, I am not sure if it is a respiratory infection or because I just changed to coco chips for their run. They have been sneezing for over a week now, the issue is that I just introduced a new rooster to my flock which might have given a virus to everyone...
Oh I have not seen barred rock hens with long tails! Thanks for the heads up, they are now looking more and more proportional, and less, funny looking.
Heres one of them sun bathing with the others. Had a visitor call me over thinking they died, called them over for treats and they all went back...
The pellets are smaller than the layer ones, I think the older chicks will manage, will have to see them eat them though. I used to feed my day olds watered down mash, really entices weaker chicks.
Same here, I had issues with grain mites (plus some weevils), I haven't had problems with them in...
I will soon start feeding around 20 chickens, right now only 10 are adults, the rest are 1 month olds. But in a bit they will all be eating the same thing, grower.
Stores only sell the feed in bags of 22, 44, 110 pound bags. The larger the bags the cheaper each pound is of course, which would...
Oh yes don’t worry i am aware of the egg colour. was not looking for maran dark just the usual sexlink brownish eggs. Wanted to complete my rainbow egg basket since i only have white and blue eggs at the moment.
I agree! Had a sexlink hen a few years ago, she was such a sweetheart unfortunately...
Someone was selling off their battery hens (still in lay), and I was looking for some dark egg layers so I picked them up, they don’t really look 100%. They are bald in some places and their combs look pretty wrinkled and pale. But they are not in terrible shape as they haven’t been battery hens...
Thank you! A lot if the “fancy” breeds have now been moved to their own special coop since the layers seem to think they are a bit odd and pick on them.
Yes I did so, we are still renovating the coop so the waterer got moved around a bunch.
