Is anyone else having issues using the BYC app. I just updated my IPhone and It tells me BYC App needs to update in order to run on the OS.:hit
I guess chickens just seem fragile to me. I also had the notion that chickens shouldn't get to wet, because it would make them sick and die. Not sure where this came from but it's something that was in my mind.
So I have posted this question before kinda. I not sure if there is a general answer to this question, but how long in general does it take for a hen to get used to a new place and start laying. I was told that she is around 2 years old, she is a silver laced wyandott. I got her on August 6th.
It doesn't look to small for now. Just put them in The coop at night don't let them sleep out in the run either. That's what I did with mine and now they always go sleep in the coop.
Do you have broom that you could poke them with or a ladder? If not there's not much you can do. If you don't have a top on your run I would consider getting one. Mine would not stop getting up on top of mine until I covered it.
They are new layers, the lady I got them from said she got them in the in the spring. One of them does usually lay a slightly smaller egg then the other, but not this small haha. So it's pretty normal then?
No we reallly don't get a ton of snow, about 41 inches per year occasionally we get a blizzard but on average it not too bad. I was thinking of covering the top with a tarp. Also all the birds do fit in the coop usually they all sleep on the Roost and top nesting area, leaving the bottom empty...
Lots of good things to think about. My coop is actually pretty small but I just aquired another coop that I can setup in the run. I can deff shovel the run and put hay down. I do have a heated water bowl that I can stick out there for them.
