Hello Chicken community! So I have three Silkies, and one booted. One of my Silkies became broody, so I put a baby under her! But I guess I didn’t think this through. Now what? Will her new mama help the baby to eat and drink? Will my other hens try and harm the new chick? She’s laying on...
I live in Minnesota and have a heated coop. unusually, they started laying in January and now 1 of 4 is laying. Any suggestions? Suns out longer, weather is better? I have no clue
ok I just looked back and the in question was actually born at the beginning of January, not November .....does that change anything or make my odds of getting an egg any better?
Also This little girl (I think a girl) below was born at the beginning of June! Does it seem like a girl to you...
I don't believe it's a rooster. Very docile. Plus I do have a hen and this one hasn't tried any funny business with her so I am fairly sure it's a hen :)
i have a pullet born in November 2016. Her sister stated laying in June. Nothing from her yet? When do I become concerned? I'm in Minnesota and days are getting shorter. And suggestions?
Yes! She only leaves to eat. Should I do anything special or just leave her alone. Again thank you, I am so new with this. Will she lay again? What should I expect?
i have a Silkie who started laying 4-6 eggs a week back in June. She is free range and has not laid in several days and won't willingly leave her coop. I'm a new chicken owner, not sure what's going on.
