Duck is better but still need advice

She's doing great !! She has a follow up vet appointment at 1 pm today. The swelling is down but still obvious so I'm assuming she will get another antibiotic injection today. Other than that she's swimming everyday now and is now fully waterproof !!

Duck is better but still need advice

Good luck with the baby chick. I know all about bringing baby birds (of all kinds) to work. For many years I volunteered for the local wildlife rehabilitation group and, believe it or not, people also brought me baby chickens :) Glad to hear Marmalade is doing better. <3

Duck is better but still need advice

Update: Took Sugar Foot to the vet yesterday as the joint is still swollen. She is now walking, but not well. The vet gave her an covenia injection and she gets a recheck in 10 days. I continue adding Nutritional yeast to her food and apple cider vinegar to her water. I'm also Cleaning...

Duck is better but still need advice

I'm so sorry to hear that Marmalade is battling bumblefoot again!! That is good to know about the Vitamin A. In what form are you giving it to her ? I'll also be interested to know if the Tuff foot helps. Is she a "heavy" breed? I was reading that the heavier ducks tend to have more foot...

@Sylie what did you do for the duck with the fracture ?

Duck is better but still need advice

No, he did not xray her. In fact he didn't really do anything. Cephalexin is the antibiotic used. She is not really walking, but will stand up for very short periods of time. She is also keeping the foot underneath her now. When I first rescued her she dragged both of her legs behind...

Duck is better but still need advice

Yes 10 days of antibiotics. The vet said there isn't anything else to be done for her so I don't feel like that is an option at this point. :( But I may give him a call on Monday and see what he says. Pretty sure he didn't think she would live. That may be why he said there was nothing...

Duck is better but still need advice

Oh I get it. Mix the whole gallon and then just use each day. Did you refrigerate after mixing ? BTW I love this: "I want only to "chicken," "duck," and "goat" full time - is that too much to ask?" And I totally agree !! :) At what point do I need to consider draining? It sounds like...

Duck is better but still need advice

Thank you for the link. I would like to try that first. I'm not wild about doing a "surgery" and would like to avoid it, if at all possible. How much of the powder do you put in the water for each treatment ?

Duck is better but still need advice

It was not drained. The vet told me that there was nothing much he could do for it, to his credit though, he's not an "exotic" vet, just doing me a favor. The nearest exotic vet is an hour away. I am at work now but will get a pic of the bottom of the food tonight.

Duck is better but still need advice

The Pekin duck I found is doing better but not completely well yet. My original post is here https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/found-a-duck-she-cant-walk-one-swollen-foot-and-leg.1517779/ The first picture is what she looked like when I first found her. Second pic is how she looks...
