Yes certainly a lot of comb. He’s such a lovely little guy. In two minds about keeping him. Council rules state roosters may be kept but if complaints are made will need to be removed
Thanks. Yes it’s hard when know nothing of breed. I have a Japanese Bantam everyone said was a cockerel based on development and what they knew from their breeds that weren’t JB’s and I found a Japanese Bantam group which deals with that breed only. Was told it was in fact a pullet and it is in...
hey all. Just wanted one last attempt at sexing Eggna my Belgium D’uccle. Is approx 6 weeks old now. Feathers have almost all come through and the beards coming out now also.
Don’t want to get rid of if not a cockerel so all help would be appreciated
If you look closely you will notice some white/cream speckles around crop area. He also has quite a few growing through around what I’d guess could be called back and shoulders. Was a pure black baby but as getting his big boy feathers he’s starting to speckle.
Yay. He is such a lovely little guy. Loves his cuddles and gets a bit jealous if I’m petting one of his sisters (australorp 9wk and Japanese Bantam 6wk) so he will give me a quick peck to say dad I want more back rubs lol.
Ok cool. thanks again. I had gotten 3 babies originally (2 Australorp, 1 isa) and 2 were cockerels so traded them for two younger babies (Belgium D’uccle and Japanese Bantam). Then I got two point of lays recently after it looking like the D’uccle was at least a cockerel. The Japanese and...
Awesome. Thanks. Can you confirm that duccles don’t have an overly loud crow also? I’d love to keep him but if he’s too loud I’ll be made to rehome him. Have heard compared to say Rhode Island’s and other large breeds they’re a lot quieter and barely noticeable
Someone also mentioned this so I have changed a few things around and hopefully we will soon find out. The first egg was left in door way of a house basically on the floor they had three babies in there (all under 9 weeks) so the other point of lay girl was busy harassing them but not the babies...
I figured as much but more so worries how long it should be. 1 week, 2 weeks up to a month etc.
never owned chickens before and she’s my first layer so trying to make sure they’re all done best by etc. thanks
hi all.
My ISA Brown point of lay laid her very first egg 4 days ago and nothing since. I’m not overly concerned I don’t have eggs but want to be sure it is normal and she’s just learning the ropes.
I know an egg a day isn’t realistic when she’s starting out but how long is too long between...
Cheers. Oddly enough YouTube has lots of videos of baby roosters attempting to crow. Everything’s always so conflicting on these groups so makes it difficult. I played a normal rooster crowing and it stood up and did the same action. Not sure if that means anything.
Have added my location to...
My ISA has started doing what looks like a growing movement. Video won’t upload. No sound other than a clicking noise towards the end also. Is that standard or possible rooster attempting to crow? Sorry for al the questions never had chickens before and beginning to think maybe babies were...
