Well if she is nasty to the other neighbor too then it's not just you. I sure wouldn't have any objection to putting horse manure under her bedroom window! Shame we didn't live across the ocean! ;p Hang in there!

    Water logged chick?

That'll probably help :) Have some patience and give the little one some time and they should be good. If not, you can try sneaking both back under the broody when it's dark out and she's asleep, then the next day she'll never know (normally)

Haha famous Herman! :) He's pretty to me and he's special to you so that is perfect;) I agree a sweet good roo goes along way for me! Just recently had one turned into soup because he was absolutely nasty and he almost killed my best hen!

    Managing chickens.smells,flies etc help

Sounds like she just has a major screw loose! I'd try the fly traps too! They work out by my horse pens...but they do stink! I'm on the fence about Roos since I had an Americana Bantam basically kill my best Bantam Cochin hen. I'm trying to give my silkie rooster a chance and so far he's very...

    Water logged chick?

I second the feather duster! Even with a brooder full of chicks, I find that a duster or two with real feathers helps keep the chicks feeling more safe/comfortable and therefore more quiet :)

Honestly I can't give you any advice in regards to nasty people, I'm the kind of person that doesn't put up with crap like that and I normally set them straight (I'm Italian ;)) But sorry you have a sh!ty neighbor. I too am in a neighborhood, but so far no one has complained. I also use sand...

    Water logged chick?

I think bringing in another chick for the one that's by itself would be totally fine! Sorry you lost the other one. It the crappy side to raising anything. :/

    Can ducks climb this?

That quote reminds me of a tiny little 27" mini stallion I had previously owned that had the hots for my 16hand mare! :gig...he had a very big ego It's hilarious that a duck is sneaky and likes to pretend she's a chicken!

    Water logged chick?

I'd put her under a lamp or heating pad. The more chilled it gets the harder it is on them especially with it having other problems.

    Water logged chick?

I hatch a lot too and have to disagree with putting more water into a chick that is gasping, it'll just drown if it can't get the water down properly. The vitamins/water mixture to make a feed mash will get the calories and the moisture needed to help it. Just my opinion and personal experience...

    Water logged chick?

Unfortunately yes. Very sleepy. You can try vigorously rubbing them to get them alert and then dipping the beak into the vitamin mush. But sometimes when they're this far gone no matter how hard you try they just don't make it and it's heartbreaking.

    Water logged chick?

I agree with the gasping thing meaning they're fading. I'd mix up the vitamin water and mix a bit with the chick feed to make a mush, then dip the chicks beak into that instead of the water as if it's gasping it'll just make it fade faster by trying to get more liquid down it. This has helped a...

    Silkie genders?

I hear ya on that! My 7 month old roo just started to crow and then I have a 10 month old hen that is yet to lay! They're frustrating for sure! The best I can explain paint vs splash, is that a paint is much like how a paint horse or a harlequin Great Dane would be -white base with black (or...

    Silkie genders?

also for me anyways, the ones I have that turned out to be pullets/hens were pretty flat/very small bumped for their comb area and the ones that were already more puffed up there have been my cockerels/roosters. But like I said they're tricky! I've even had one from day 1-5 months that was so...

    Silkie genders?

It is pretty though! It's paint spots may be more splashy and muttled when older or since she/he is 7 weeks, it may be a good indication of a pretty heavy spotted paint! Time will time! I'd love to see it when it hits the 5month old range! Same with #2, it's face is so sweet!
