    Do Rooster Silkies have combs?

Just wondering what the color of the comb of a blue silkie and white silkie is? I can’t pinpoint which one or two are crowing. But I think it’s the one with a black waddle and no comb. I have two with black waddles and one with red comb and waddle.

    Moving to coop

They were already sleeping away from the heat lamp in the brooder. Ive seen them roost but not on a consistent basis. They tend to sleep like humans. All laid out which I think is funny. Im sure they will be fine without the lamp at night. I was just wondering if it had some other...

    Moving to coop

I just moved my six week old chicks to the coop. I currently have the lamp on and was wondering if this is necessary. The temperature at night is in the mid to high sixties. Daytime is in the mid to high seventies. Also I am currently feeding and watering in the coop and had them in the run...

    Ground covering for my run

Lol! Yes the neighbor behind me doesn't take care of their yard. Its full of leaves. The free range chickens in my neighborhood are always back there rummaging through the leaves. I didn't know that they could be used for bedding. Bonus. Mahalo

    Ground covering for my run

I just talked to my friend and what Ill probably do is use the coop that I purchased and extend and widen the run and add another coop on the other end for a couple birds thus giving me the capacity. He free ranges his eight birds. He also willing to take my birds if I decide not to keep the...

    Ground covering for my run

Problem is that I already purchased and it has shipped. It was suppose to arrive by today. When it comes in, I’ll either downsize the flock or possibly increase the Sq footage. The run will be easy to extend to increase. The coop itself I’m not sure on.

    Ground covering for my run

http://a.co/eq4Y0i7 I don't have drainage issues other than when we get thunderstorms or heavy rain. I wish we have the luxury of having big properties but land is limited. I would have definitely built a large coop like yours. See the link I posted for the coop I ordered. its 143x68.5x66.5

    Ground covering for my run

Not sure if we have coir stocked locally. I was leaning towards wood chips also. I figured my grass would be gone. I was thinking of using tile blocks to raise the run and coop off the ground a little. I was even thinking of the deep litter method, but really just scratched the surface of...

    Ground covering for my run

I am planning to put the chicken coop and run on grass. The weather here doesn't have the fluctuations like on the mainland. I was wondering what type of material or if any do I put in the run and how high of base do I need to build for the coop and run.
