Old horse stall into a chicken coop

Yeah having air flow was a concern of mine. We normally have a good south breeze so I'm hoping it keeps the coop cool enough. Have them all in the coop trying to get them trained this is their new home. So far so good.

Old horse stall into a chicken coop

Thanks for the tips. I put all the hens and pullets in two days ago and so far they are all roosting and just using the nest boxes as best boxes. Some experimenting on my part for sure

Old horse stall into a chicken coop

I could list materials and tools I used, but reality is I hope no one repeats the actual build. When the barn was built nothing was square. I just did the best with what I had. As far as skill, to me there is none. As long as you can read a ruler and press a button on an impact driver and a...

Old horse stall into a chicken coop

We currently have 7 hens, 13 pullets, and 10 chicks. Might get a few more but that will most likely be it. Might start selling pullets here locally. I made a big brooder so might as well take advantage of it.

Old horse stall into a chicken coop

Got most of my new chicken coop built. Still have a few finishing touches. 12'x14'. Stall faces south so the south wind should keep it "cool" in the hot and humid days, but keep it plenty work in the winter. Raised the floor 6 inches. The barn flooded 2" during the "1000 year flood" we just had...

    My DIY brooder boxes

Long story short I bought my first one, then decided to build my second one and sell my first one. My first one is something our local feed store sells. I bought it out of laziness and figured it was big enough because I was "only" getting 6 chicks. It's a simple design with an open bottom the...
