I was wondering the same thing. I don't have a dog yet, only three cats, but I've always wanted one. However, I won't get one if it means they will harm the chickens or annoy my cats. My cats are the rulers of the house, lol.
Hoping things are going well and the heat subsides a bit. I'm in CA and wanting to order some chicks, but have to wait because of this absurd heat. Rooting for Ruby! :)
I personally consider Bakersfield to be the start of Central CA. But yeah....Lompoc is close, that's for sure. I'd love you guys to help me add to the list if you have any imput.
Oh, you're so close to me actually. I'm in Crestline, relatively near the lake. I put Lake Arrowhead in my profile though because nobody except the locals know where Crestline is. Even people from LA! :gig
Don't they have little wild chickens there? Anyway, I'm sure what few disadvantages you have are outweighed by the sheer beauty of the Islands! I have never been but we plan to go one of these winters.
Sapphire Gem? Sounds exotic! Please post a pic :)

For those of us in California, finding breeders and hatcheries can be more of a challenge, as the most popular breeders and hatcheries are typically located across the country. In this article I will be outlining breeders and hatcheries that are located in California for people that prefer to...
Sounds like you've got considerable space in Woodland Hills, good for you. If you do move, perhaps you should consider somewhere a bit cooler. If I had the money, I'd get some property near Rolling Hills or Palos Verdes.....but alas we are not that rich! I wish I could have more than four...
Do you sell your eggs? The most I plan to do with them is make breakfasts for my Air B&B clients....assuming we go that route. (We have 2 extra bedrooms and would like to make a little money on the side.) I will probably start baking again though, if we end up having too many to eat.
