I enter from the top of my brooder. When that is all you have, that is all you have. What you need is a better bribe. I use meal worms. I start to train them right out of the egg, but I bet older chick will learn too. Mine come running to any hand. Several will jump on the hand too.

Fascinating. I jus love the breed, not into the genetics. I did cross a legbar with a blue egg Americana. She layed the prettiest blue eggs. Better than any of my legbars.

I would be pretty upset. Mine can sometimes be a minty green but never olive. I would want my money back.

My friend that has some good general knowledge said the legs were fused. No hope, no fixing it. If they were fused in a different way tie might have been saved.

Just looked 16 eggs in a batch of 30 something did not make it. Next time I will count the eggs I get. Maybe a little more than 50%. That is terrible.

I don’t think you can see much in these, but her legs are locked right up against her body. Very sad, and I can’t figure out what could have happened. The hatch rate on my legbars in this batch was near perfect. Just one egg pulled on day 7. My friend’s hatch rate was poor. I think I pulled...

If it is her chick it is at least half Orpington. I will keep her for now and see how she grows. It she is a light cream legbar that would be cool. I don’t know what is genetically possible in legbars but my girls have lots of different farm lines in them so who knows what is possible...

I hatched eggs for a friend. All but 2 have been out of the incubator for over a day. I have 2 late eggs. One of those eggs finally hatched. Baby isn’t quite right but I decided to wait and see how she goes. After about 8 hours after hatch I noticed her legs, both of them, are right up...

Now this is really weird. I hatched some eggs for a friend. They were mostly lavender orpington eggs, although there were a couple of smaller white eggs that she said the hens were mixed breed, rooster was an Orpington. She didn’t give me a full incubator so I added some of my cream legbar...

I hatched some lavender orpingtons for a friend, she didn’t give me enough eggs to fill the incubator so I filled with my cream legbar eggs. They are hatching today and so far 2 girls.

I really want both sexes but I would be happy to start with whatever I can get. Where are you located.

I walk them way out to feed to wildlife. Doesn’t happen very often for me, thank goodness. Lost a couple of chicks during hatch and I bagged those and threw away. A friend said my chickens would love them and it is free protein but I couldn’t do it.

That is about right 4-5 weeks. I adore them. They come running anytime I am outside. I know it is the mealworms but it is still nice.

Lost track of age but they are growing up. Still not sure how many I am going to keep but I will enjoy them while I have them. I just gave them some alfalfa to pick through cause I was out of meal worms. They are cream Legbars

Thanks, going to look up that farm I bought some legbars on line shipped. I was not at all happy. I need to do the research on the farms.
