No, I don't have any more to hatch.
So...... this is what I have done (right or wrong).
I collected 10 eggs from my Button Quail and have added them to the incubator. They should hatch at the same time as the pheasant egg. I don't know what will come of this, but I hadn't heard anything back...
So I bought my Red Golden pheasants last winter some time. Well, we started getting eggs from the hens recently. They laid a total of about 6-7 eggs. I ended up with three eggs in the incubator, and I have been candling them. Well, out of the three eggs there is only one that is definitely...
Things got even crazier!!!!!
Yesterday I was gone all day. When I got back I looked in the bator and saw that there hadn't been a huge amount of progress, but the chick was peeping like crazy from inside the shell....really loud! So, I made the executive decision to help it. I used tweezers...
My Bob White eggs were supposed to hatch on Monday..... well as I posted in another thread, they didn't start hatching until Tuesday. I think the temp had been running a tiny bit low in my LG (grrrr). So, anyway on Tuesday the eggs starting hatching, and then more on Wednesday. So, I really...
Thanks Bill
When I just checked a minute ago one of them was already out and the other was very close. I will check again in a few minutes. I still think that the reason they took a while to start hatching is because the darn LG had the temp a tiny bit too low. Some day I will be able to...
So..... I just put two in the brooder that I was keeping in the bator to dry off, and Oh My there are two more that have zipped!!! Even though the humidity was fine, the membranes look a little dry, so hope they will be okay. I also re-wet the sponges when I took the two out to move to the...
As of this morning we have 8 Bob Whites that have hatched so far......
We got 15 eggs from JJ (thanks, JJ) and today is day 25. I wasn't as religious messing around with adjusting the temp on my LG bator this time, well because quite frankly it can make you nuts! So, I think the temp might...
Just changed out the bulb when I was giving them fresh shavings, food & water. The current temp is about 80 degrees, so I will go back in a little bit and see if I need to raise or lower the light.
My only concern is that the light will be on 24/7 and disturb the other birds. I will probably...
KFCGirl♥ :
3 weeks? Buttons? i wouldnt try that..
I don't think I will try it.... I think I will go ahead and switch the bulb to a regular 60 watt bulb (white unfortunately) and raise it to where the temp is about 80ish. I will just have to keep an eye out for any pecking that could happen.
So my baby Button chicks are now just over 3 weeks old. They have all their feathers, and I am wondering if it is ok to remove the heat lamp. I have raised it up as far as it would go over time, but it insists on keeping the brooder at 85 degrees, which I know they don't need. They are now in...
We had a pair of India Blue Peacocks, and they recently took off into the woods Well, the hen came back the other day and we got her to go into her pen and then we promptly shut the gate. But she seemed so lonely without her mate....... so...... I put a male Red Golden pheasant in with her...
Just found a website with the Button colors..... I see Quail Lady that the bird on your avatar is indeed a Button, Yay! From what I see on my colors I have: one definite silver, one lighter silver, one that looks like silver & white (?), three that look white, and three that look very...
So we hatched some Button Quail and they were two weeks old yesterday. They are still in the brooder with heat, but they are growing so fast that we need to get going on building some cages. How old do they have to be before I can try sexing them by the vent feathers? We have nine of them...
Kind of embarrassing to say, but I found out what the problem was with the egg turner..........
The little arm that comes off the motor wasn't in the slot of the tray. Oops, all better now

LOL Bill, I think you know me already
No, I will be worrying about the fact that my egg turner doesn't appear to have moved since I put them in.....? I will check it again in a little while. I haven't even had the darn thing for all that long really, so it better be working! I...
ummm..... didn't let them rest before I just went ahead and put them in the incubator. I wasn't sure if I should or not, and my Button eggs I put right in when they arrived. Hope I have as much luck as I had with the Buttons! Yay!!!
HOORAY...... HOORAY...... HOORAY
The eggs have arrived !!!!! The stupid mail man put them in the mail box instead of leaving them at the post office for me to pick up.....
So now there is 15 Bob White eggs in the incubator!!!
Keeping my fingers crossed for a successful hatch..... I will...
So I ordered some Bob White hatching eggs from a member on here last week. They told me that the eggs would be sent out on Wednesday..... I checked the tracking and they didn't even leave until Wednesday night. Here I sit on Saturday and they haven't arrived..... GRRRRR! Which means that they...
Fred's Hens :
Glad you moved them to larger quarters. It will help. Yes, red is superior. Chickens have bad eyesight in the dark and red is closer to darkness. Turn on a bright light and watch them "wind it up" in a matter of seconds. Within a minute, they are bouncing off the walls. It...
