New chicken owner with electric fence installation question

I have the Premier1 plus poultry netting. Does anyone know if I can connect my solar energizer to any other part of the fence besides the ends where the clips are? One end of the fence is in heavy shade and the other is where I cannot put in a ground rod.

Electric poultry netting and solar energizer question

I recently bought and set up a 100 ft Premier1 electric poultry netting with an IntelliShock PRS-I 50 solar energizer. I know nothing about electric fencing but it was pretty easy to set up with directions. My problem is after setting it up I realized that both ends of the fence are in a shaded...

Welsummer Roo on Cuckoo maran hen

Will a Welsummer roo and a cuckoo hen give you sex-linked chicks? I hatched 2 eggs from this cross yesterday and got one all black chick and one brownish chick with a white spot on it's head and some white underneath. Does the barring work the same with a Welsummer and cuckoo then assuming the...

Tough love is really tough, it hurts (him too now)

Oh my. How heartbreaking! I have a 4 yr old son and I can't imagine a time when we wouldn't be close. But then I also have a 20 year old DD that is making me tear my hair out so I see how it happens. Scientifically speaking a person's brain is not done growing until they are at least 25 yrs old...

    Moving to Pennsylvania in Mid-May!!!

I was just in State College to see Jane Goodall last week. Lots of great things to do there and big-name tickets at the college - Elton John was there this week. I live about an hour east of there. Ate at Cozy Thai downtown if you like Thai food.

    MRSA and CA-MRSA topics

you can buy Hibiclens(a chlorhexidine product) in a drug store(no prescription) and wash with that. It would help with any external Staph.. Typically, Staph colonizes the mucusol membranes(nose) and docs will sometimes prescribe something to put up one's nose. Don't panic. Really the only...

Chinese Shar-Pei..Anyone have any experience with them?

I've had Shar Pei for many years. I currently have a 6 yr old blue male, 75 lbs who is very friendly but I have worked with him extensively to get him that way. Our vet said he has the best temperment of any Shar Pei they met(they have not met many). He loves older kids but not so much...

you ever seen a rash like this?

Could be staph but that usually turns into pustules. If there is clear fluid in there then seems like some dermatitis but no itching is not typical.

my 6 year old son was feeding mealworms to my 2 hens...:(

Awww. They do peck at anything shiny. I vote for some safety glasses(maybe you could find some cool ones). Your son just may be a bit more cautious now that that happened - it may be all you need. I wouldn't let them around the 3 yr old though - they are too close to eye level and don't see the...

Looking for advice from dog trainers/ behaviorists pretty please

You might want to check this out. http://www.critterchat.net/deafpuppies1.htm Bull Terriers are on the "high prevelance" list for hearing impairment. If that is part of the problem there should be some resources out there on the subject that could help with the behavior.
