    yes. We have light in the barn & coop. We really have to in AK it stays so dark in the winter. I tried keeping her locked out & just kept putting her out.     Haha! okay, maybe Brave. Just never afraid to try something. I figure if it didn't work, lesson learned. Also, 2 went broody & no lazy layers around here, unless you're old. 1 hen isn't a yr yet & the other is 1 1/2. I'll take some pics today w/ my comp of their chicks ;)

    thank you so much. I mostly computer illiterate, so your diagram is VERY helpful. We live in Alaska. our coop can't be set up to keep them protected, so I put them in garage.

    also after 6 weeks or so, will I need to reacclimate mama to the temp? like maybe put her outside in the barnyard for an hour or what? per day?/

    I don't use heat lamps. too dangerous. I use an Eco Glow

    we do not have a brooder cage, I mean I don't really know what that is. I do have an Ecoglow heat lamp/brooder. should I put that in there as well so if the babies need it?? or will just the mom be okay ...there are 10 chicks for the one mom
