Any suggestions. We have lost five of our free range chickens in about a week. We just find some feathers. This is happening during the day. Fox or Coyote? No carcass left behind. Not raccoon. I'm going to keep them in their coop for at least a few days. I'd shoot it if I could see it and...
Help a yankee out. How do you manage a rooster. Mine was so aggressive. we had 11 hens for him. He still was rough on them and attacked all of our family. Any suggestions? I would like to have a self sustaining flock some day. We let them free range.
That looks like it should be just fine. Chickens are very hardy. I'm in central Ohio and we only give them some heat when it goes -10 or more. Vinal floor has been good for me but I would not do vinyl sides. Heat is worse for chickens than cold.

@FrankieDoodle Have you been raising quail long? Any success breeding them? My wife and best friend gave me 75 for my birthday and we released them on our property. That winter was the coldest on record and none were seen or heard next spring. But hope springs eternal, I wouldn't mind trying...
Good idea! I can partition the coop with some chicken wire. I have golden laced wyandottes, wellsummers, easter eggers and rhode island reds. This is my third flock. Thanks for the excellent idea.
Like 50-45-1 said, the fox got her. A fox leaves no evidence and takes the prey back to it's den. They are especially aggressive/bold in early spring when they have pups. So sorry for your loss.
